Just start with a 25 tooth pinion for onroad.
19t pinion for offroad.

If you are going to venture into Mod, get a range of pinions & spurs so that you can get a FDR from anywhere from 7.0/1 - 10.5/1. As for rollout, make sure you can go from about 20mm up to about 26mm.
I'm not the best person to answer this as I don't run winds as high as 12 turn. The highest I usually go is 9. But, as somewhere to start, I'd say start with a final drive ratio around 8.0/1
as to what pinon range you will need, as an idea, I normally carry 7 pinions and 7 spurs. Pinions from 22-28 & spurs from 100-106. That gives me a pretty good range, I don't need to carry any more than that.
I have never raced at those tracks, I'm only going off pics.

ok thanks for that. what i meant to say was rollout range

Jack was just about spot on with his rollout recommendation:
For larger tracks there is a small chance that you may want to go higher than 26mm with a 12 turn.
Last saturday I was running an 8x2 Br00d Ti center cut on an indoor carpet track with about a 22mm rollout. On larger outdoor tracks with higher winds, I can forsee the possibility of needing to go higher than 26mm.

Just saw this image from some br00d motors at the snowbirds (image came from rc50.com )
what is that red ring on the arms? what does it do? what is the benefit of that?
i know that on low wind arms often the winds are kevlar tied... is this the alternative to that?
I am very curiuos!
