The GEN3 21.5 with the Tekin 12.5mm Redline Gen3 "Spec Strong" Torque Rotor is a KILLER!!!
This thing preformed great for me, can't wait to try it on a outdoor track next weekend.

I was looking for the Vegas 223 software for my gen 1 tekin esc, but it seems that there are no more downloads available of none of the old software that will make the gen1 stuff work. I expected at least the last gen1 software to be available for support....
I guess I'll need to find another racer or a hobbyshop with the 223 software on their laptops to get better brakes out of my esc then... My novak esc had better brakes at 5% than what I'm getting now with the tekin buttons maxxed out... I tried all the radio calibration tricks/ changed radios etc, already with no luck...
Maybe tekin esc + novak motor = no brakes.... Chime in....

223 is included in the current download here: www.teamtekin.com/hotwire.htm

You need to update your Hotwire.

Link does not work... No need to update Hotwire(paperweight now) either, I'll just seek lhs/racer help for this last tekin esc until it quits(bashing only)... Less than 1/4 brakes from a $200+ esc out of the box is not good at all: no need to get more stuff to get it to work properly... Thanks...

Rotor might be weak in the motor which causes weak brakes, and usually the motor runs hotter.

There is no reason not to have full brakes in the Brake strength is maxxed out and you see all the leds flashing when you push full brake. Might try a factory reset since the defaults are full brake strength.

Cool

Maybe the tekin RX8 esc buttons were calibrated for strong tekin T8 rotors instead of the smaller Novak HV rotors. In which case I need to use the 223 software to up the brake strength to max... That's seems to be the case, and no real fault on anybody's part... I hope I get lucky and find a racer with the 223 software on his laptop.... Thanks....Cheers.....

Any racer with a Hotwire and the hotwire software has 223 in it. The hotwire software has all the current and older software versions in it and automatically recognizes which unit it is and offers it to you.

The Rx8 brake strength default on the Rx8 gen1 is only 70% because the 4pole motors have too much brakes. After a factory reset they do show about led 5 strength, but turned up to 7 leds you should have full brakes the motor is capable of.

It is likely something else going on. If this is a 3slot 2 pole 550 motor like our SC4x motors then it is likely a weak rotor. That was the main failure in the 550 size motors when people were trying to use them for 1/8 scale cars, and even in the SC4x4 class where they are pushed to their limits... and why we made the Pro4 and Pro4 HD motors that can handle the SC4x4 loads.

After all the resets I have seven leds, and I can turn the wheels on my car(1700gram tc4) by hand at full brakes...The old novak HV esc would lockup the tires at 10% brake epa... Something other than a weak rotor is causing this, but I wonder whether the hotwire can fix it, since the brakes would have to be over twenty times more powerful to make a difference...
How much more powerful brakes do you get with the hotwire and v223 instead of v198(stock) ??? It also seems that v212 would give me stronger brakes over all other versions , on top of some decent timing increase(more top end)...
Can a weak solder joint cause this ??? What about swapping phase wires???
The car flies on throttle though.......
