Default Motor Fan

G'day guys,

Now that I am running the Tekin RS i have changed from an FDR in Stock 17.5 of 3.5 (160deg F) to around 5.5 (80deg F). Even though its winter I still run the 30mm LRP fan, but was thinking of taking it off the car for better balance.

What would the expected temperature increase be without the fan? 10deg F, 20?

Ben

20 degrees. That's what all my testing has shown. This was using the LRP heat sink and fan. It does off set the balance of the car but keeps the motor running pretty cool. Take it off and the temps rise a little. Having my Redline running at around 160-170 is what I always shoot for. If it's less and I'm fast then it's a win, win situation.

Just a quick word of thanks to the team at Tekin for the quick turnaround and getting my ESCs back on time! Very helpful and professional!

I ordered a Tekin RS 17.5 bundle from AMain and it arrived today.

Just wondering if it comes with the wires for battery and motor? And also the capacitor mentioned in the manual?

All there is in the package is an RS, motor, manual, 2 sticker sheets and a sensor cable.

Just wanna make sure before I contact AMain.

Yes, it does come with wires and the capacitor you'll need. You'll need to purchase a deans plug or whatever you use to make the connections to your battery and/or motor.

Seems most people are using this ESC for 1/12. I'm new to 1/12th too and just got myself a RS + 17.5 Redline combo to race this winter.

I ran the same combo this summer in my TC5X outside on asphalt boosting the crap out of it with zero problems! So far the RS has proven it's self to be the most reliable and user friendly esc I have owned!

mate I have the rs pro and its working a treat... I havent pushed it to its limits yet but I am sure it will be fine.. It has all the numbers to be the best speedie out there. But look doesnt matter who you talk to and if it is a hobby shop or a salesman they are going to sell you what they know about (brand wise) cause thats the only thing they sell... x brand is the best cause this this and this and the y brand is shit... why is it shit?? cause someone I knew had one and it blew up... they will always used the same story over and over as its it the only bad thing they can say about it.. but I bet you ask have you had any returns of brand x?? they will always say no as like I said thats what they sell... If by chance you do get a problem with it when you take it back or talk to the hobby shop they will turn around and say Wow your are the first person to ever have a problem that I know of lol... and to any other customer they talk to will still say brand y is better than brand x...
