Fellow DM1 racers, I found something that I missed after a wreck on Saturday.

Backed the car hard into the outside wall, while pushing to hard. Knocked the right rear hinge pin out. I don't run an aluminum mount in the back, which is good as I'm not sure what I would have broken since I bent a 4mm titanium hinge pin at over 20 degree angle in the last 3/4".

Anyway, replaced the back lower mount and never removed the inner lower mount. Well in the main, with a light tap, lower arm is out again, game over. So really check all three mounts even if you find the normal broken part.

Also I am not going to be able to make the Gulf Coast GP, as the date moved from the original November 8 - 10, to the 15 - 17. I will be in Dallas visiting family the 8 - 10, so maybe we could meet and talk.

Good to hear you did well last race

The plastic pin holder may have a small crack hence the hinge pin slides off
I use all aluminum hingepin holders bec I have had multiple problems with the plastic ones

The race in porter is on Nov 16-17 unless they have changed it recently

I missed the change from the original Series schedule put out in February. So yes your dates are correct. I just have too many places to be and things to do in November and will not be able to make it.

OK, the dumbaxx CB ate another spur gear yesterday, so I can only assume more of the front tiny bearings have grenaded..(haven't bothered to look yet..) So anyway, since this car is unsellable, I guess I'm still looking for:

1.) a new CB (don't need gears, but would take them in a deal..)
2.) spur gears
3.) engine bolts..
4.) front King Headz chassis brace
5.) Pro version 1/7 alu top plates...

I have all that you are looking for, but the front aluminum chassis brace is an OFNA part. PM me and we can talk.

I'm sure if you are reading this thread, more than likely you have seen that ROAR has finally written rules for the GT8 class. While they may not be to the liking of all racers it is a good starting point.

One key part of the rules that may affect the OFNA DM-1spec and DM-One (1/7 scale car) is the chassis having a kick up. I have asked ROAR through two different channels to allow our cars to be grandfathered in for a 2-3 year period of time. Same thing for the current Team C or New OFNA GT car.

I'm pretty sure we will get that agreement, but all future cars are to have a kick up and to that point, have heard that a new car from OFNA may be out in 2014. I'm not planning on going away from this car for next year, unless I have to for ROAR regionals or Nationals in Florida next November.

I am in the process of building a 1/7 scale car to run in the IGT8 spec class for next year. I purchased a Ferrari body from Marcus that is from Team C and will be working on mounting it in the next week or two. But another racer let me know that the wheel base may not be quite right for our car.

Anyone else try one of these bodies yet?

Along with this after reading the ROAR rules, the only change to the IGT8 spec class would be to use a 6mm restrictor, which I ordered from Reds yesterday. So running the Spec class for IGT8 and ROAR would be the carb restrictor.

What's a standard diff-oil set-up for the DM-1 (7th scale)? No serious racing - just messing around. I've never opened a diff (and expect getting to them will be a challenge..) I just rebuilt the 2-speed, and there is definitely some slop in the diffs(after two years/never been opened..)

Between 120-300K for the front and 30-80K in the rear.

When I race my DM1 at the track, I run between 300K-Lock Putty and 40K in the rear.

I'd go with the 100/50 split. For racing with med to high traction, I'm in the 50/10 range, but I like the car to turn in and apply power when coming out of the corner, and not hammer it.

I was able to get the suspension on the 1/7 scale DM-one and for round number wheel base is 15". The Team C body looks like it was made for a 14 1/4 wheel base. So, I'm going to take 1/4" in the front and 1/2" in the back.

I'm going to see if all three bodies are the same, as I have the Ferrari.

Hi Mark

I look forward to the info and pics when you've mounted the body. Any word from ROAR about this chassis and the kickup issue?

Thanks

Richard
