True enough..but for a few dollars more you get the 85MG with metal gears...

I still don't know if I trust them though. After hearing the Hitec tech support guy tell me that 'the HS-81mg is not designed for car use, the splined connection that hooks to the servo horn fits directly against the pot, transferring the vibration and shock directly to the pot, causing it to act erratically or fail'...yet STILL they sell tons of these servos to people for micro car applications, even though they say that the 85MG is the much better choice and that they in no way could recommend the 81.

Isn't that kind of like a company that produces a plastic jug that looks like and is marketed as a gas can for household use, but the plastics used aren't compatible with the chemicals in the fuel, so they work perfect for water, but if you actually USE if for gas it will, in all likelihood fail?

I will say that the Hitec tech support guy was VERY helpful...maybe even a little too helpful...so helpful he made me feel a little uneasy about the product?

I guess I'll stick with my JR 351 for now

That seems to be a very common problem with the Xray. I just run it till it breaks. It seems like the stock gear diffs just aren't strong enough for a mod motor. The ball diff will be out soon they say and it will solve that problem for sure. In the meantime there was an extra shaft that came in the kit and you can use it to make the front diff the same as the back and the clicking will go away.

Anybody know where I can get a stick pack like that? Or how to solder one? (I'm not the greatest with a soldering iron, but if that's the only way..)

Not sure why you have that mine did not. A little advice ... DO NOT tighten the spur too tightly (wonderful English), it will cause the spur to be out of alignment.

Ill shrink wrap it then. I took it apart and the case makes up for almost all the bulk. Where can I get some clear or black shrinkwrap?
