wow. insanely fast.
Geared 13/40 on an scte with a 4000kv tenshock, and a xerun 80a 8th scale esc. This thing flies. It seems faster than I was with a Novak 4.5, for sure. Granted, not quite as smooth, but it's fine. I think with a real esc, I'd be in even better shape. I was clearing things at the track this morning that I wasn't making last week, I know that much.
The power is what I would call "instantaneous". I ran for a good 2 full battery packs, or about 20-25mins and temped at 165 on the motor, and around 125 on the esc. I'm happy with the motor.

Probably. Especially considering it's 100 degrees or so here today. I'm not sure I will though. With the 13 on there, it's more power than I can use for the most part. I'm not sure I'm even getting to peak at top speed on the back straight. It screams though, for sure. and it's temping well.

you are running a real esc. the hobbywing is at least as good as any out there.

yeah, it's ok. I had some issues. The switch broke, for one. It's smooth and does it's job. I'd maybe like a higher amperage BEC, but yeah, it's fine. I may need to play with timing too, because I experienced some of that "stall when stuck" issue the other guy was talking about.

Could someone please tell me where i can get a new motor plate, front one, that the screws go into to mount it to the chassis.
i have stripped one screw each on both locations on the mount.

i have read before that the xerun series of esc's don't do that great with non-sensored motors. for me, my SC8 has been awesome with my tenshock. no issues at all. my savox 1258 servo runs perfect. none of this mmp/external bec crap. motor is silky smooth (as smooth as sensorless can be).

for those of you haveing the stall prob,have you tried a better or diff battery. We had the same prob with the 4600 and it did it no matter what esc we used even Tekin . It was the same thunder power battery each time. Swithched to a new battery and no stall.These tenshock short course are battery hungry. I use the 801 in 1/8 and it is very smooth and efficient. The hobbywing esc run as almost smooth in non senored mod as some do in sensored. right now the 401 is working very well with a hobbywing rc8.

I raced my 4600kv yesterday with a MMP and Savox 1258TG for the first time in my SSC LCG Slash 4x4, and had help and advice from the SSC LCG designer, Mark. Great guy, passionate about what he does, and very helpful despite having his own races to tackle! He invited me to pit with him and his dog, Race.
I have nothing to compare this motor to, but to me it was a ground missile on pavement geared 13/52. In dirt, it was impressive....I probably needed better tires to put the power to the ground.
In 90 degree ambient temps, the motor came off a 5 minute heat at 100 degrees. The metal motor mount and metal chassis certainly helped dissipate the heat, along with a small heat sink I clipped on. I did not temp the MMP. I did not have any stall issues that people talk about when using the MMP and 1258TG. I guess I am lucky?
I don't see the need to use a different motor, as the only limiting factor with this combo is the driver (I SERIOUSLY need to learn how to jump!).

You can take the front cap off and rotate it so you can use a different hole if you have to have the motor can turned a certain way. Then you can use a completely new set of holes, or the m4 holes. The m4 holes will require drilling out your motor mount plate a tad, but the m4 screws are more secure.
