i used 3200mah with old tires. on points races i will run new ones and use 500mah more with new tires. so that would be 3700mah. i make the 5 min main no problem.

4000mah will fit but the 5000mah will not. my friend took the hard case off of the 5000mah so it would fit. it is not a good idea. you can fit a 6000mah soft pack in just fine. why can't you make the hard case go around the sides front and back but leave the top and bottom open. then they would fit in any car

Have any one tried using a 25C and compare it to the 28C? is there a big difference between the two when racing stock/19t and if so which pack you like most.

i don't want to hear about rules and safety. i took two lipos and charged them and then stuck a nail throw both of them. guess what happened.

nimh are the ones to stay away from. I have run soft packs for a long time no problem.

"C" rating varies from manufacturer to manufacturer and SMC is the only pack supplying statistics on their packs so you really don't know without doing some serious testing of each manufactuer's claimed C rate. I am running the Orion 3800 30C pack currently but as soon as the top wire 5000mah 28C is available from SMC...I'm a converted Orion owner. My Orions have treated me well but I race Sportsman stock and can see and feel a difference when running the SMC packs in other people's cars in my class.

(now if Danny would let me test fit a new top wire pack I could give you a direct first hand experience with results LOL)

I'm super eager to get my hands on a top wire pack and am watching for the news!

And that's fine just don't plan on attending any bigger sanctioned races anytime soon. Safety is NOT just for your benefit.
Peace,
C

Do you have to balance?

To make it easier, is there a FAQ section for LiPo's (And maybe brushless as well?) I haven't raced in 2 years and just got the bug again, but I seem to be out in left field with the new tech that is out there.
Anyone?

its not about safety. they are safe hard case or soft. if you just charge them safely then you and every one around you will be safe. for two years i have been watching people race with lipos at the tracks i race at. so far ne lipo fire or explosion. but in two years i have seen 4 sub c that are hard explode. if you have not run lipo soft packs then you do not know what you are talking about.

i just wanted a 5000 pack that would fit in my car. hard case except top and bottom. if your pack gets dented on the top your bottom you are doing some thing rong.

The 5000 does fit in the X Ray cars. I have seen many with those packs installes.. Most are just usinh 1mm washers to raise top deck. I have seen it on top drivers car at Nats doing that, Not just local club racers...

We got the 3200s , 4000s with top wire in this week and the 5000s will come in next week as last week we got in our last shipment of 5000s with the regular case.

I'm currently in Vegas and have limited access to the web so I may not be able to answer questions as promptly.

For those who are wondering how many are using Lipos I can tell you that most of the SMC drivers are using Lipos and it's not because we forced them as we had plenty of sub-c packs.

Our 3 European drivers. Jilles Groskamp , Marc Rheinhard and Vikto Wilck all decided to run Lipos in Mod Foam and 5 cell sub-c in Rubber.

There's always the main.... I think Haynes was running one when he TQ'd and Drew Ellis TQ'd with the 5000 in 13.5. Even the European drivers, Marc Rheinard, Victor Wilck, and Gilles Groskamp are running them in mod foam. I think some of the US drivers have sworn off sub-c's too. Josh Cyrul, Ray Darroch, and Jeff Cuffs all told me they will never run sub-c's again if they can help it. It is amazing how many "red packs" are strapped into cars at this race.

Stephen, is that 5000 in a 008EU or 008US? If it's a 008US, I'd love to see your mounting solution.
