I built my SDW yesterday and wow, what a nice kit it is. All falls together so well. The only gripes i have is the cutting and filing you have to do to the plastics. Rick

Rick, I agree with you completely. I built my SDW this week. Definitely one heck of a car. But what a pain it is to trim the arms so they don't hit the tranny cases and filing the castor blocks so the universals don't rub. So now, anytime you break an arm, you have extra work to do before just slapping an arm on.

One thing I really do like is that they put the extra set of holes up in the chassis to use the normal SD arms mounts along with the normal SD arms. They did their homework with this car.

As far as normal arms vs. graphite -- On my Rayspeed SD, I went from the normal plastics arms to the HD graphite arms and I felt some decent differences. One thing is that it responded to "smaller" suspension changes better. Oh, that and it took a pretty big hit in the main without breaking. That was nice too.

how light is the cgm lightweight chassi comparing to the original one????

is possible to get the cgm version weighing the same as the carbon fiber version (or something like 1450g)???

It may be possible, but costly. Ti Screws, CVD's DriveShafts, Input shafts, lt.wt motor holder, small and lightweight electronics, carbon shafts and so on. CF towers might also help.

If you race 540 stock it is, my CGM was like 1460-70 grams ready to race so if you put in a few light weight parts it should be possible. But if you run mod with it's heavier batteries I wouldn't like your chances. I've read posts where people running mod have added all the light weight stuff they can think of and still be above 1500 grams.

But 1500 grams is the weight limit anyway isn't it?

My CGM weighs in at around 1460-1470 concidering what scale is used, Ti screws, LW chassis, Alu CVD's and inputs, graphite shaft, Rayspeed towers, LW motormount, HD arms and probably more including taped battery
It's probably a little "too much" but i like the car better when it's leaded to a nearly perfect 50/50 side-side weight

btw, anyoe know how i can get rid of oversteering into corners and totally understeering out of corners? The car was quite fast last race (managed to get 3rd in A but it was tot inconsistent), i tried many things. Softer front springs, more angle on the front shocks and so on, but never really find a cure on the problem, anyone got a tip?

Your understeering problem coming out of corners is a weight transfer problem. You transfering to much weight to the rear wheels when you start to get back on the throttle. I suggest you stiffen the rear springs. Going to softer front springs only causes your car to oversteer worse. When you enter the corner your off the throttle, all the weight is transfering to the front wheels putting softer springs on the front only allows more weight to transfer to the front. So stiffen the front springs.

oversteer in, understeer out, huh. sounds familiar, try anti-squad at the rear, starts with 1 deg, it helps a lot.

anti squat should free the car up off power and lock the rear in on power so I don't think he wants to do that. If anything take out all the antisquat if you're running any.
