Just cut up the stock tray. That's what I did.

I think your over-thinking it...I don't see much damage happening to the battery having that rear facing small area exposed.

Hey guys quick question, I just purchased a roller ofna and will be putting my castle SCT 3800kv combo in it, what pinion gear should I use? I think the truck came with the stock spur gear it's a blue color one. Oh and I will be running a gens ace 2s 5000 40c..I will be using the truck for bashing and ocassionaly track events

I would be careful about temps with the Castle SCT 3800KV combo for the motor. A friend of mine put one in his slash and used a 16T pinion and it would stop for a few minutes then go again. I called up Castle and can't remember if they said do not use more than a 15T or 14T pinion. I would start out with a 14T pinion. The latter information is for a 2S setup. I am using the Castle SCT 3800Kv in a Losi 810E and use
3S and a 11T pinion. Temps are about 142F.

You'll be fine. Think about the path something would need to take to hit that. Heck I have the whole side of my battery tray cut off so I can run my packs laying down with soft packs and still no problems!

I run that combo in my Hyper TT and its great. I'll check on the gearing when I get home. Mine runs cool and actually could be geared up some for more speed (our track isn't very big so I don't need a ton of speed).

You can't compare gearing between models as they have different drive ratios, different weights, different wheel diameters, and different purposes. Heck even the number of cells will change what gearing you should shoot for.

I have a Hyper 10SC and was speaking of experience with the Castle 3800KV on an outdoor track. I would think that the Hyper 10Sc and the Hyper TT would have the same gearing as they are almost identical. Evidently, my latter post was confusing as I now use the Castle 3800KV in a Losi 810E.

So if I use a 12 pinion gear I would be fine then? Would it be atleast over 30mph with that setup on 2S?

Gearing is the same on a hyper 10sc but a hyper tt is lighter so you can gear higher. I own both.

Ohh and I forgot to ask, I have a HobbyKing 120a esc and a Tacon 4420kV motor. I have it right now on my ecx ruckus, that thing flys on 2S. Do u guys think it would be overkill for the TT? If I use this setup what pinion har should I get?

Yes that does make a difference (you mentioned you had it in a slash and quoted that gearing previously). I am running a 16T gear.

As for the 120a esc...the hk 120 would be overkill and it would be a problem getting it to fit also (made the mistake of trying once before). The HK 100a esc works great and is of similiar size to MMP

Check page 244 that's my tt. I run that combo with a 15t m1 pinion. Temps are barely warm with a 3s. You will love it.

How fast is it with that setup? I already ordered a 12t pinion and will run on 2s so probably will be slow as hell lol
