Thumbs up TA05-R gearing

Thanks for fast reply.

If I use 48pitch 105T spur gear instead of 04mod tamiya 105T spur gear, is the gearing ratio same ?

What is the best gear ratio for novak 5.5T brushless motor for TA05-R ?
The manual says 8.75-9.25, but I think it's little bit high.

Is there anyone who use TA05-R with novak 5.5 motor ?

I'm new to electric onroad, I have a lot of questions.
Please advise.

If I'm having too much rear grip, understeering, do I move the wing forward or cut the wing? Now I have the largest possible size and the rearward mounting position.

Thanks!
Rules for wing size/positions would be set out by the governing body your club is affiliated with. If its not affiliated, run whatever size wing you want (the bigger the better when it comes to downforce/drag). If your club is affiliated, then you should be looking to the rules for the governing body (ROAR, BRCA, AARCMCC, IFMAR etc).

If you dont run rules at your club like that, then consider doing it according to the governing body that would normally govern major races in your area, that way if you decide to race in an event your body shell is legal.

With regards to moving the wing... mounted more towards the rear increases rear traction, more towards the front decreases rear traction but increases the manouverability of the car (by essentially increasing traction on the front wheels, hence more grip and steering). If the wing is the only thing you want to change and you have too much rear grip I'd move it forward.

105 teeth is still 105 teeth regardless of the pitch, it will still work out to the same FDR (eg. 105/34 * 2.25 = 6.94 FDR).

The gear ratio for your motor in the manual would normally be a recommended "safe" range of ratios. You can gear lower, but I'd be making sure your motor doesnt get too hot. Also, guys running 5.5T at one of the local tracks here would be running in the 11s for FDR, because its a short indoor carpet track with not much room to leg it out down the straight so its important to remember that gearing is often track specific.. ask the guys you race with for recommendations for your track.

What power level are you already using?

Because if you're not aware of how powerful a 4.5T can be then I would say you're probably not ready for it... I say this because I see a lot of people who normally race in stock classes try out low wind modified class motors and quickly switch back!

The other thing to consider would be additional costs associated with the increased wear on your car due to increased power levels etc. Tyres dont last as long, belts strip teeth, centre and diff pulleys wear, lower arms and damper stays more likely to break upon impact as you're gonna be hitting things harder and faster etc.

That being said, get yourself a 4.5T and some aluminium diff cups and make sure your belts arent under tensioned and see if you like it. And maybe go out into an open parking lot where its safer to do a few test runs to get used to the power level.

No problems at all with any of the new Tekin ESCs, their cap fits in nicely next to the ESC.

No problem with LRP spheres.

Novak GTB, a little tight and zip tie the cap to the motor wires.

Almost all other ESCs are larger than the space for them on the chassis.

OK, I googled 80500 and all what came up was a bathroom fan, electric mattress, a book about clouds but no ESC. So my question is, how will you know if it fits when no one knows what you're talking about? Eh?

First of all is that the stock spur gear? If it is throw it away because you'll never find metric pitch pinions big enough to give you an FDR of 4.5. That being said I use a 96T spur and 48T pinion in 64 pitch to achieve that final drive ratio. You can also get it with an 88/44, 100/50, 104/52.

I also use the RS Pro.
