Hmm...I meant an organ which you can play on....And yes,I do have a cute little mad dog at home...

Back to topic about benefits...Where there's benefits there's bound to be cons....They are: tires eaten up faster, drive shaft wear faster,If you run a lightweight spool,eg alu or delrin. prepare to change your drive cups often...

Lets not forget that to use spools effectively you will need to brake. I know of some cases where someone's shottky diode fell off and he braked..

Just to make it clear...

Diff: Move one wheel BACKWARD, other goes forward
1-way: Move one wheel BACKWARD, other goes backward
Spool: Move one wheel BACKWARD, other goes backward

Basically a spool is like having a solid shaft between both wheels where they move the same direction at the same speed no matter what.

1-way: Move one wheel BACKWARD, nothing happens other side Which is wrong... You spin one wheel backwards, the whole drivetrain spins.
Spool: Move one wheel BACKWARD, other goes backward Which is again the same thing he essentially said...

If your one-way is set up so that your wheels spin FORWARD when you turn one wheel, you only have rear wheel drive.

with a one-way, you move one wheel BACKWARD the the other wheel goes backwards. That's why it's called a one-way, b/t it only works one-way.

Here's a question, when building a spool do you line up the outdrives or offset them? Offset meaning when the spool is built one outdrive slot will be vertical and the other outdrive slot would be horizontal.

new spools are built lined up....but since the right and left side are totally independent from each other it might not matter.....but its just as easy to build lined up.......

coudln't the understeer you get going into the corner be reduced by using a one-way pulley, or do you have to lock the centre up to run a spool?

Bad idea, cause then you have the disadvantages of both spool and oneway, you can't break and you have horrible turn in ...

If you like to run a spool than you should lock up the centre pulley, otherwise, when running a oneway , centre oneway drives even better ..
