Default Which size pinion to use?

Hi All,
I have a TC4 with a 100 tooth spur gear. Which size pinion should I use with the 27T Monstor Stock Pro and 19T Chameleon Pro 2? I also bought a 72T and 68T spur. But the 100T is installed.

A general Idea would be good as I know track conditions play a role, but I need to know say 3 pinions I should carry for each motor.

I'd say the track is roughly 150'x50', it is a mix between technical and speed. There is one long straight along the back probably the entire 150' that goes into a long sweeping turn that probably goes 50' until it bring you back in the other direction. This is an extremely fast part of the track.
Thanks

For the Monster Stock Pro I would use any where from 35 up to a 38 tooth pinion 64p and for the 19t I would use any where from a 34 up to a 37 tooth pinion 64p just make some practice runs for both motors and see how they are on the track hope this helps

I would talk to some of the drivers at the track you want to race at. Ask them what rollout (if running foams) or gear ratio they are running and this should be a reasonable starting point.

I am asking here because I won't have a chance to buy any once at the track. This is the only race at this track this year, so I can't really bring more next time

here.....
http://www.gearchart.com/index.cfm?f...n=chart.create
Print out your car and spur
Try to get your ratio in the neighborhood on 7.0-7.2
that should be the best starting point.

for 100t spur a 35t pinion is right there in that area.
Glad to be a help

bit like asking

what colour t-shirt should i wear?

everybodies opinion will be different......

gearing takes effect in many ways based on the following:

track- technical or flowing
weather - hot or cold
experience - you good average or bad
battery - new old 33oo 3700 3800
tyres- new old conditionl
driving style - throttle jammer or smooth

variables that can only be sorted on the day...

suggest you buy imo 48 pitch 27 - 32 for a 68/69 spur
or
64 pitch 37 - 42 on a 80/82 spur

good luck

Nice chart shookie did you make this?....nicely done

I know this is a stupid question, but the higher the gear ratio the more top end you will have, with less acceleration? Or do I have it backwards?

Thanks All

Another question....I bought the car and it had a 100T spur on it, I think stock should be 72T for the TC4. What is the advantage of a 100T over 72T? From my understanding, I would still need to change the pinion to get in the 7.0-7.2 gear ratio. So what is the difference?

Thanks, and I appreciate you all answering a newbie's questions

Although flatering...No I didn't make that...I am blessed to have such a great site out there for me to have such an easy access to such information...now as far as which spur to use...It is up to you.

I like a bigger spur because I run 19T also so I need the larger spur to get my ratios right for it also..
FOr you, you will be well served with a 72...I used that in stock for quite some time when I first got into TC...
Hope this helps,

Okay.. I am a offraod racer trying to run onroad this winter on the carpet. I have a TC4, in offraod we know the raio of the trans. What is it in the TC4? And what is this about getting a ratio of 7.0-7.2 is that the Spur Gear divided by the Pinion Gear?

Black, cause when you wipe your hands on your shirt, the grease, oil, dirt etc, doesn't show up.
