OK, this has been asked a thousand times but here we go

I'm racing 1/8th buggy for the first season, I've been into RC for 18 years though. I got a Losi 8 1.0 and I picked up a used EB mods Vspec, the motor had a pinch job done on it but I don't think it will last the whole outdoor season.
A. I run a fairly big track 130' by 95'

B. I can put a new piston sleeve and rod in the EB Vspec for about $170, being stock OS stuff will it work well with the EB modded crank and case? and is it worth rebuilding

C. If I were to buy a new motor it would have to be in the $200-$230 price range

D. I'd like to still use my current pipe, Losi RE11 similar to OS 2060 if I buy a new engine

E. I was thinking of the Dynamite or RB S3II, what are your opinions on those and other similar priced motors? Sirio CL3B? Nova n21b I don't think will have enough top end for the long straight. I was looking at GO 7port too but I've heard a lot of bad things about them

F. I heard Picco's are good but where are you guys finding them cheap? Amain only carries the Jammin

A lot of questions but hopefully I'll get some good info to think on.

ive had alot of good luck with the go .21 7 port ran the whole season last year still runs good to this day but i would go with the grp .21 "tuned" for another 50 to 75 buck more grp are really good motors also grp are comming out with a a cheaper verson that what my hobby shop told me you can get pretty good deals on the grp

you simply cant go wrong with the nova based engines. so the RB, Nova or SIIM engines would be a good choice

Personally, I'm not a fan of rebuild unless you have the tools to put new bearings in it too. Nothing like dumping a bunch of money and then have the bearings leak and screw up the tune.

For the money, I'd look at the stock O.S. V-spec. You can use coupons and get a pretty nice deal at some of the online shops. If you can't go that route, I've seen the Jammin motors and they are fast, but not sure about durability or tunability.

Another thing to consider if your current motor is in good shape and you can wait a little bit is the new O'Donnell Motor. They will be out sometime this season, and will retail for about 229.00.

Anything you heard about Go's is fixed as of a year ago. They had carb issues doe to low quality o-rings. The Go 3 5 or 7 port are all awesome mills. The 7 is the most popular for buggy and smokes. Myself I run a modded 5 port and it smashes major $ mills I also have the 3 port and its is awesome and its like $30 less than the 5 and 7ports, and it is the newest designed mill from GO.

If you want a great engine for that price range, visit Powerhouse engine thread on here, and Pm Powerhouse (Mark) he has brand new modded GRP non tuned for 268 shipped to your door. Mark is a very good guy that knows about engines and the work he does is stellar. You will not be disappointed.

siim is 21-5k , novarossi all the way , how its done i am having a hard time understanding but it is what it is

the n21b limited in stock form is no budget engine really , it is just a p3

it utilizes p5 everything w/ a 3 port sleeve , i have won big races with this engine 500$ cash payout over pro drivers in truggy , i got the hole shot and led the race for the first 21 min. before 1 person caught up (no names but you would know the names) , i still ended up out front for the big payout n21b (houston tuned) w/ ofna 063 pipeset

Skip the rebuild. The RB is a great selection (NOVA based). However I would get a RB S5 over the S3. Reason is the S5 is more versatile and works on more type tracks. S3 is a short track engine.

Picco is another good selection. The Picco price point is reasonable. The engines are excellent performers.

NOVA's are also quality engines as well and very reliable.

GO Tech's price point is hard to beat. There performance is good as well.

I have ran 3 of the engines you are looking at. RB, GO and Picco for me it would be the Picco. Price point is great and engines performance is excellent. You could not go wrong with either the PICCO or the RB S5 both are easy to tune, last long and run like a mad man.

NOVA's are good engines too. I just can't give you 1st hand experience on those engines.

I decided to try the Non-Tuned GRP, and to this point, i am really happy with it. Right now it is not getting the fuel mileage that my Tuned GRP had, but power wise, it is about the same. Actually it feels like it may have a tiny bit more.

My tuned GRP ran @ 170-190 deg, and got 10+ minutes on fuel.

The Non-Tuned is running 220-230 and getting about 8+ minutes.

For the price, you can get them right now, it's a great deal.
