got my evo 5 past week and did my first test sesion on the track , it is awesome how this car steers even at high speed , i was running 24 mm radial tires from tamiya , nothing so special or expensive but the car was gripping like in a dream , mostly taking in mind that my track is low grip
i was running a ta04 before this and there is a LOT of diference in grip and steering
also want to say that i am running GTB 5.5 and the car doesnt look to have torque steer, i am too novice to notice the torque steer? maybe but when i hold the car in my hand and gun it , it doesnt move sideways , just the back of the car going down , like my ta-04 belt drive

Huge favor to ask F1mechanic,
can you please take a picture of the side of your gear box cover... i want to see how did you do the contouring for the tape!
Thanks!

The tape is in white. The pictures are from a top cover. It's fairly simplistic, nothing fancy.
The tape is a bit elastic and can be compressed a bit to ensure good closure with the bulkheads.
And most important, the gears are dust free. Even after having put some silicone oil on them.

although i should probably read through every page here before asking this question, here goes anyway. ( it is late and i am sleepy and a bit lazy at the moment, sorry)
do you think this car would be a better choice for 19turn carpet racing or would the 415msx rheinhard be a better car for this class?
perhaps i should get both and see which is better!

for 19 turn, i wouldn't think it would matter. with a shaft, you have to be much more under control with the throttle. i tend to be an "on or off" driver, meaning full throttle or nothing, and i am MUCH FASTER with my MSX. I have been shaft from the beginning, and the MSX was my first belt car, and I love it.
i have been fooling around with different setups for about a month now, and last week i was able to finally get my evo IV as fast as my MSX, but later that day, i shattered my best with the MSX.
Hence, the MRE should be on my doorstep on Wed!!
sorry to add water to the mudhole!

i have the same problem. I was thinking, if the option diff isn't the same as for the MSX or the Marc R. I wanted to download the pdf manual from the tamiya web site to check if they have the same parts numbers. (to bad my connection with the net isn't strong to download it) Can anyone check it out for me.
Thanks
Thanks

i did check the manual to make my list, but there is not a special section like " to make the balldiff you need this:" you have to follow the bal diff building instructions and write down the part numbers, then look for the reference numbers at the end of the manual , thats why i might forget something in that proccess ...

just check the manual of the msx and compare the diff joints with those of the evo V. Check the numbers you find them on the end of the manual. If those are the same, are problems are solved
