on the topic of radios...

i picked up a new stock idler gear just so i can futz around until my diff rebuilt kit, and robinson idler and diff gears get here...

when i had the car in the driveway today my radio (futaba 2ph) just seemed to have a range of about 30 feet. fortunately i never lost control, i managed to get the car turned around before i lost all control. i checked to make sure the antenna was tight, and it was, and since i checked it i havnt had a problem since. im thinking perhaps a broken solder joint where the antenna meets the board inside, and just touching it was enough to make a better connection on the joint, or perhaps it was just a fluke with some random interference in the neighborhood.

the radio is only a couple months old, how concerned should i be about this?

mafia - I'm big into dance and techno right now.

beetle - If it happens again, go ahead and be concerned. Try pushing the antenna into the radio with your hand and see if that fixes it, because that will prove your suspicions correct that a solder joint is probably loose.

Futaba is only up north a little bit from San Diego (I think they're in Irvine) and usually have great turn around times when servicing products.

bigl and ted - I'm workin on making it down there. This is the first weekend off I've had in a loooong time and I needed to be a teenager for a couple of days. This upcoming Friday night sounds pretty good, so I'm gonna try and come down a little bit early and get some run-time in before I ring the bell..class is in session!

I start school tomorrow. I'm almost glad though, staying home gets a little boring after a while. Rebuilding and rebuilding and rebuilding my car can only pass soo much time. I need something constructive....like photo class. I'm a senior this year so we'll see what happens!

In Santee, down south by El Cajon.

My dad has taken Futaba products up there and they were checked out while he waited, they're very fast.

Don't feel too old..I'm an old man too. I started college already

Default m8 blues

My expo is set to zero. sometimes i run -8 and a speed of -20 to help my heavy finger. but I checked them and reset them to zero when I noticed the problem. I think I'll just buy a new M8 any how.

jkerr - That doesn't mean I don't feel like an old man sometimes..work and school and everything, it's killin' me.

Derek - I did that a couple weeks ago..it's hard work!

beetle - 24? Bah! That's not old at all!

stu - It's probably the pots. It can't hurt to replace the radio though..if you have the budget.
