1/8th On Road Losing Popularity?
#451
Yes you're right but I'm sure you understand we have to start somewhere and that's what I'm doing, I talked to two different magazines and ask why our coverage is non exciting I was told lack of communication and effort from the nitro on road community. I was also told turn outs in the off road and electric races are far greater than on road nitro, this is why they cover those races.
You would be surprised who's involved with promoting and putting together all the cool off road races.
You would be surprised who's involved in taking a nothing class and making it into one of the biggest growing class to date.
You would be surprised in who's involved in getting these magazines to cover there off road races.
I was when I found out, it was racer's.
To be honest what I'm trying to accomplish is nothing new, I'm simply bighting off someone else's format.

Again, Agreed. I know what Carlton has done - very effective.
So, do we wait for him?
Deal with improvements on a local scale only?
Move as a group of racers forward with ROAR?

Yes, he has done a fine Marketing job.
He has established a working structure.
So, is that what on-road racing needs?
A visionary with a goal, a Marketing and Business plan.
How do we learn from, as you pointed out, his success?

I was hoping for a measured response. Some substance. Objectives, possible goals.

I wonder if he would be interested in duplicating the effort for on road. If he's set up why reinvent the wheel.

Who wants to help
This group is coming up with outstanding ideasw and moving in a positive direction.
I would like to set up a committee to build interest and participation. Who here is interested?
Send me contact information and a breif description of what you think you could bring to the committee.

Something for you guys to knaw on. Screw the tech, forget the port number, and institute a claimer rule. Top 3 finishers are in the noose. Any one can claim the engine outright starting at the bottom finishing position and moving upward in the field for 200.00 to 220.00 End of story. Give 30 minutes to claim the motor and produce cash. The result will be that the best bang for the buck stocker motor will shake itself out for everyone. And the guy who wants to take his chances with a whiz bang engine, well so be it.
Anyone who refuses the claimer is out of the class for the season. Simple, and effective.
Thats the way its done in limited cost dirt track racing.

Carl,
Regarding your Sportsman mod motor question, plenty of guys in Sportsman run mod motors. My point was that the motor is not what wins the race. A clean driver with a stock motor (not an expert driver; just a clean driver) will clobber a basher with a mod motor.
