R8R, the PRP car is like an actual 8th scale competition car, the other is just an 8th scale buggy with road tires on it. I'd suggest the XR80, if you want to race...

oh definately. the XR80 is the one I will be picking up. finishing some home remodeling projects and then it's a dive into the 1/8 scale RC world.

I was reading some of the earlier post, R40, how are you liking that DSM rx/tx? I was leaning more towards a synthesized XS3 or maybe picking up a M8 from eBay but I like that idea of not having to worry about crystals?

What type of radio do you guys/gals run?

I too am debating on a synth radio and the spektrum radio. Both that I'm looking at, the JR and the Spek radio, have mostly the same features. The JR will have more model memory. The Spektrum radio is like the older JR XR2/XR3 and I liked how those radios felt.

The more support we show to Crystal Park Raceway the better the track facility, James is trying to create a new racing atmosphere with the music and the laid back racing, the best part to me is the oval I ran it for the first time and was impressed by the speed and action on the track.

As for radios, it's kinda tricky, and here's why. With the XS3, you get all the features a club level racer could use, and then some. The Spektrum doesn't have nearly as many features, but it far excedes the XS3 in glitch resistance, and no more freq. conflicts. But then there's the M-8 or M-11. Both have more than enough features, and can still run the spektrum module, best of both worlds. So really, the question is, what do you "Need" and how deep are your pockets...

With the number of piston explosions I saw at this weekend's race on plus 3's we had no choice but to start looking real hard at an option. (I witnessed 3)

I went out earlier in the week and played around with the 3 different controllers and think the M8 fits my hands better. I was surprised at the feel of the Spektrum, felt flimsy. I figure with the release of the M11, the M8's will be liquidated at a good price.
