Ok so after reading and looking at setups, I am more confused then I was before I started. I am new to 1/10th pancars and need a good setup for carpet. I see some are using 1/12th kingpins and springs, etc. Can someone point me to a good setup for a smooth carpet track. We will be running WGT tires and 13.5t blinky motors. I need gearing and everything.

Roll out should be round 30-40 mm, always check you motor temp after 2 minutes.
Front tires about 52mm
Rear tires about 55 mm
Ride height 4 - 4.5 mm
blue side spring 1 turn preload
i use a trf damper with bleu spring and 350 oil
red front spring with preload via extra shim
droop is 1mm
xceed carpet hard front tires
jaco Lilac rear tires

@techs correct me if i'm wrong, i'm just a novice how tries to help

hi westy,

We drive with 17.5t 2s and dynamic timing esc.
He probably is asking for 1s 13.5t in non dynamic esc application. Rollout should be a lot higher with 1s 13.5t probably in the 50-60mm.

We run WGT 13.5 blinky on 90x45 carpet with high 80s to low 90s roll.

A good WGT setup will be a tick quicker than 12th 17.5 blinky.

also depends on your track.... how big is it?

this weekend's race was a large indoor carpet track (90x60*)

we were geared around 88/48 with full motor timing. but when traction came up we went down 88/46- 88/45 with 52mm tires (this is with 13.5 motors)

1 mm droop
50-55 front springs
white rear springs (no pre load)
red main spring
30-50k in the tubes
0 on camber

but this all depends on your track size and traction level

Do you use the 1/12th king pins or the stock?

with 45-60mm springs.. you can only use the 12th scale king pins. (not sure if you went on CRC's website but copy dumpers set up.. its a GREAT starting point (Brian Wynn)

What size do you cut JACO spec tires and what gearing for 13.5 blinky?

Hi,

I would say never start with tyres bigger than 55mm and adjust your gearing to suit. Seems crazy but they last long as they are less prone to chunk and they handle better.

max your motor timing and start with 88/40 and check temps after about 3 minutes of hard running. If it's less than 120 deg, increase your pinion 1 tooth at a time till temps get around 150-160 degrees. It's better to inch your way up to the right gearing than start too high and cook your motor.

depending on what performance you want and what budget you are on. picture this.... would you go on a race track with 4x4 tires or low profile tires? i cut my tires at 52-52.5mm BUT THATS JUST ME... each person is different

i race on 2 different tracks
74x36 track and 100x60

with full motor timing im running 88/36 on the small and 88/46-47 on the larger one. but when starting out its best to always run for a few minutes and temp your motor and esc to make sure you are geared correctly
