You can try using the longer shock shafts from previous TRF shock sets. I don't have the part numbers but those shafts will get you more downtravel.

I have a 415 on the way and was wondering if the Direct Center Pulley's that Steve is selling at Speedtech is the solid layshaft?

The rear shocks are causing me some trouble - I screwed on the lower ball joints so that the fully extended shock length was 61mm, but now I can't achieve a droop less than 4mm And when I set the ride height to 5mm, the pre-tention ring is virtually all the way at the top of the shock body.

On my EVO III my shocks are also 61mm and I have no such problems.

Any suggestions?
I don't think this is a problem. It's how I have my car too. I usually run 5 rear droop.

Guys do you think if we make enough noise we can get Tamiya to make more of these spools. I think Tamiya America only made about 60........I could be wrong though. The spool is on the right in the pic.

Nismo,

That's the direct pulley, which the two center pulleys are now together as one piece and held on the stock layshaft with a single set screw. It's the part you need if you're trying to lock the center.

I dont think they made that many. Last I heard it was 10 or 15. Cost is huge also due to using the 1-way diff pressing out the bearings and pressing in the Alum inserts.

Go with the Speedtech unit it is made here in Washington by one of our local racers. Steve I think has put in an order for more due to demand.

Wow 10 to 15, I guess I was very lucky to get one!

I think if I remember rightly I'm using a shock length of 61 mm, I have slightly unwound the end caps to get this length and it seems to work fine. I can have a pretty much full range of droop.
However I notice your not running any spacers under the rear suspension toe brace. this could be causing the problem.

Hope it helps
Ed

Actually correction, just measured it, and I can't get lower than 4mm too, guess I'll have to extend the shock lengths, by undoing the ball studs a little. Actually I've put the rear shock at 63mm now, allows 3mm on the droop gauge, so it sits on 4mm with the droop screw resistricting it.

Hello,

Does anyone have an idea about where to get tech-racing parts in California? San Francisco area?

I set my shocks to 62.5 mm. Works just fine, and leaves just enough room for various settings.

From what point to what point are you measuring your shocks from?

Some people measure from the very top of the shock to the very bottom. ( this is how I measure)

Others measure from the inside of the top mounting hole to the inside of the bottom mounting hole.

Cheerz

Me, too - but for a base setup (carpet) I'm using Marc Rheinard's setup and he has 4mm droop at the rear.

As I mentioned above, I'm using the Marc Rheinard setup for carpet and he didn't have spacers under the rear blocks. But I did try it before removing the spacers and it was the same.

I hope this doesn't mean that there is a possibility of pulling out the shock rod from the ball adjuster

Thanks for the info, Ed.

Mark.

I do the same - very top to very bottom.
Seems I have to unwind the ball adjusters a little
