I got his new number but have yet to call, I need to though, was worried at first he didn't make it back or something after all the numbers were changed and his IM didn't work. Good to know he's back safe, just hate he's not racing anymore.

It makes the buzzing sound all the time. If its the potentionmeter's problem, how do I get it replaced?

If it is NOT attached to the steering linkage and it buzzes all the time, then the potentiometer is most likely shot in the servo, and it should be replaced or repaired. If it only buzzes when it is attached to the steering linkage then either something is binding in your steering linkage and/or it IS a weak servo and it just doesnt have the strength to move the linkage completely to neutral, again, check to be sure your steering linkage moves freely back and forth without the servo attached. If everything moves fine with minimal binding, and the servo still buzzes, you might want to check into a better servo. Something in your price range with a minimum of 75oz/in of torque, and a transit speed of your choice would be a wise investment. One of the first and best upgrades to your TC, next to driving/practice time, it a good solid servo.

Default Front Suspension Tuning

Hi,

When I'm coming off the straight at my local club (foam on carpet) and into the sweeper, I can see that the inside front wheel is up off the ground.

What adjustment would help keep it down best?

I have 4mm of droop and Purple springs up front (3rd stiffest).

I'm thinking 1 - 1.5 mm of added droop and maybe Gold springs.

Not sure that it's having much of an effect, but I cannot see how having a wheel off the ground helps.

Thanks

I am looking for a good rollout for a TC4 on Oval, Also I was wondering if I am calculating the rollout correctly...What I was told to do by a person at the track is
(tire diameter(inches)x(3.14)x(pinion) all divided by the spur. But from other rollout formulas I have seen they were using the transmission ratio...Can you guys point me in the right direction, thank you Jeff

4mm droop?!?! That's way more than usual. Most carpet foam setups use 0-2.5mm droop.

He is probably reffering to the reading on the droop gauge, not the actual amount of up travel in the car. Just like when looking at an AE setup sheet it gives droop, that is the gauge reading when it says 4mm.

Default Transmission ratio

Hi,

What is the transmission gearing ratio for a FT TC4? 2.5 like the TC3 or is it different. AE has nothing on it's site (that I can see).

Oh, yes, the droop I'm reading is the 4 on the droop gauge.

Thanks
Mike

So using "R/C Car Gear Ratio Calculator", I have a Gearbox ratio of 2.5, Spur of 72 (right??), Pinion of 27, RPM around 20,500 and I'm guessing tire diameter of 2.2" (slightly worn GQ's ... what typically is the diameter of new tires? I don't have access to them right now). It says that my to speed is 20mph? Would this be about right then?

thanks

use this calculator "R/C Car Gear Ratio Calculator" www.waits.net

It gives you rollout

What is rollout?

I wasent really having the trouble finding the sites to calculate it, but rather I was looking for what a good starting point would be to try and get my rollout to...I am racing oval carpet on a fairly large track...I was also looking for the real formula to work with, since I do not have the computer at the track with me...Thanks again Jeff

Tire Diameter x 3.14/FinalDriveRatio = Rollout........FDR = Spur/Pinion x Transmission Ratio(2.5 on TC4)

example: 57mm x 3.14/7.0 = 25.57mm

Rollout = 25.57mm

Rollout is the distance the car will travel with one revolution of the motor.
