A800R Released March 23, 2023 with two kit versions, A800RA (alloy) and A800RC (carbon)

New Part Releases
  • January 2020 - A800-AM24-20 Servo Holder - combine servo holder and steering holder to one single part.
  • February 2020 - A800-ADC Advanced Damper Cup Set - Reduces the amount of rebuild routines. It offers the possibility to A) remove air and B) add oil into the damper without the need of full disassembling
  • January 2021 - A800-BDL - Body Downtravel Limiter, replaces SPR08
  • March 2021 - A800-P138LFA - 38T Pully Low Friction - For Gear Diff
  • March 2021 - A800-P138S-LFA 38T Spool Pulley Low Friction - For Spool
  • April 2021 - A800-C27MMX - Full Length Top Deck for A800MMX
  • May 2021 - A800-C01MMA Alloy Chassis - Battery position is shifted to the front to achieve a better overall weight distribution. Removes short arm holes. New narrower shape

New Parts
  • June 2016: A800-SPR01-98 - The version of SPR01 springs with reduced angle of the tips bending. Recommended for using with new SPR02H3 Shock Rod Guides.
  • June 2016: A800-SPR01S-98 - The version of SPR01S springs with reduced angle of the tips bending. Recommended for using with new SPR02H3 Shock Rod Guides.
  • May / June 2016: A800-AM14A - includes new optional "longer" hole on steering arm
  • May / June 2016: A700-AM14-3 - removes the prior "longer" hole on steering arm
  • May / June 2016: A800-C04AL+0.5 - 0.5mm wider alloy suspension arm
  • May / June 2016: A800-C01B-2.25 - 2.25mm carbon main plate (best suited for asphalt racing)
  • May / June 2016: A800-D2.2 - Dampers that support a thicker SPR02H3

The top curve is an evo that does great at my local track on the old style pss. The bottom is the new style pss. Should I be looking to get the ride height to be in the flat spot of the lower curve? The green line in the curve is where it should be at ride height. Both cars sit level at about 5.4mm and 300 grams of mass. You can really see what happens from bending the hook when you measure this way. The blue line on the id motor was doing some crazy stuff until i bent it out to try and get it similar to the above evo. It looked more like an s.

some general observations. I can see that a high slope in the beginning make a big difference to how much preload I have to add to balance the car. In some cases I save 2mm of stroke.


When the force starts on these curves I set 0 position. I have figured out how to modify the shape of the curves by bending the eyelet to mimic a known “good” curve or to match left to right. I have a balanced chassis on scales and on balance pegs. The friction in both left and right are the same. One thing I have noticed is that if I synch springs initial and dynamic curve the ride height is slightly off on one side. Ive checked friction and weight several times and the eyelets never hit the hard stop. I have to assume some tolerance is off and im wondering if Oleg has some suggestions. Im wondering if I should shim one side up to the other to retain spring and ride height synchronization. Or maybe the springs just have a .1 lb deviation tolerance.

Mike Gee held a tech tip video at the Awesomatix USA facebook page. He did a fantastic job, I learned a lot. Amazing that such a young person can be so wise!!!

Thanks! The reason for that is simple, I’ve been running AX continuously since 2013, so I think other than maybe the Danilchicks, I probably have the most experience with the car of anyone in the US I’ve lived through every iteration of the shaft car to the belt car to now the mid motor car. Also I’m 29 so maybe not quite as young as I look. That hat hides my gray hairs

We will have another tech tip session tomorrow afternoon on diffs!

he's also still the same guy he was long before before awesomatix or national titles, he's worked hard and put in the time to get where he is. I hate it when a few wins changes people and makes their head swell up.

I’m building a new MMX and don’t think i have the front universal right, it can be moved in all directions but there’s a lot of friction at a point. Hard to explained. This is the US version axles. I did it according to the instructions and have the sleeve over it so everything seems to be in its place...any thoughts?? And by the way, the quality of these parts (so far) is amazing!

I don't think you have both pins seated all the way. The pins should be flush with the outside of the ST-17 Universal Ring.

Sometimes the driveshafts are tight. You can either try to clean them up with a small drill bit, or just run the car once and it will break in

Thanks guys, both pins are definitely in the ST17. It seems the tolerance between ST113 ball and ST01 socket is very close.

Mike is a real "ambassador" for Awesomatix. Any day of the week I'd take his results ( Multiple Reedy invites, National Champion, Big race stud, basically ) over owning the car since its inception and every iteration ( +1 ;-) ) thereafter since October 2011 ! I remember finishing the initial build and running down to TimeZone 2 ( Washington State ) for the Xray challenge on grey carpet. I got there for the last chance qualifier, I had maybe one pack of practice and put it third on the grid, I think I finished 2nd or 3rd. Nobody had seen the car so word had come down that I was going be rushing down 150 miles to join the race on mains day, if I finished the build! Everyone was checking out the car that had been anticipated for years! Paul Lemieux was there ( not racing but organizing the event ) he took some laps too, gave it the unofficial thumbs up. The current version is still a marvel of engineering to this day, almost 9 years later, for anyone that is fortunate enough to own one.

Anyway, enough of the nostalgia. It is very cool to see your videos Mike , you make it look easy. Keep em up, we are fortunate you are doing them, and thanks for the shout out to me and my bro.

The pre production car was at iic and other events prior to the official first production car that was shipped in October 2011. Perhaps Oleg may have sold you an early production car, if that’s the case, kudos to you ! :-) I just meant *virtually* nobody had seen the car.
