Next year we hope to offer 2 classes, a "Spec" class and a "True Open" class, and the "Spec" class will be based on the rules that Juan (JLock) developed a few years back.

A "True Open" class allows current 1/8 GT owners and new racers the ability to "run what the brung" without having to buy new equipment. We just want to build up the racer base first, then we can split to a "Spec" class.

Thanks to all IGT Hobbies, Texas Biggie, and SWCS supporters, and we hope to see you at the race!

CONGRATS !!, very nice and simple rules ... wish you the best on the event !! ...

Even when im not on the road of "full open" as it allows a "race of wallets" (high end onroad or rally engines, centax clutches, etc), i do believe that "as a starting set of rules", being full open is a good thing as will bring more cars to the track ... once you have enough driver volume, go down on fine tuning the OPEN and SPEC classes ... anyway, good luck !!

Congrats Bill on your 1st set of GT rules set in stone.

There're a lot like ours, with the exception of you leaving the door open for racers to run with centax/slider or adjustable clutches, buggy/truggy chassis mount wings and driver assisted electronics = D-Boxes.

Other than that, you’re getting close to something solid there.
Good luck with that.

At the risk of starting another 7 page war here, gonna say what needs to be said.

D-boxes are for guys that can't drive without them,

Have fun & smile!

I have some that were longer and had to space them up. If you can find some hinge pins about 42-43mm long, that will solve the issue.
i did the same with an old 777sp2wc chassis, i just punched holes in the chassis and used a tekno rc motor mount and a rcmonster battery tray (tekno rc will also work). some of my friends used my buddy's rcmonster mikes conversion. i use a 17t pinion mod1 with a mmm2200kv anf hyperion battery and get temps around 12-135 on motor and 110 on the esc....what conversion did u use. and ill post pics if ud like

I did not use a conversion. The Inferno VE has its own motor and ESC mounts. I just changed out the stuff needed to make it onroad. Kyosho's motor mount is pretty good so I am sticking with it. I will upgrade the RTR servo with probably a Savox in the next few weeks. I will eventually break down and get a 4-cell pack.

My guess is because it takes away from the "spec" issue but as I stated b4 a little birdie told me & I could care less and am not involved, we run a "true" open class with foam tires...

jrz93,

Just got through testing the car again with a 15T pinion. It definitely woke the car up some. Temps were still 106F degrees on the motor and 94F degrees on the ESC. Now, just need to tune the suspension some more and maybe try that 17T pinion you are using.

For Kyosho, 17/44 is the ticket for small tracks, larger tracks need a 20/44, but you'll need to put a fan on the motor. http://www.igthobbies.com/CASTLE-CRE...ROUD_p_66.html

I think I've got this handled. I can order Kyosho parts direct from them through the hobby shop that I work at on weekends. I have built many of electric and nitro cars over the years (20+) and got this project under control.
