I tried losi pistons because I had them on hand and didn't have a drill kit at the time... Got a drill kit now and ended up drilling my own... Big difference between 4 hole and 2 hole pistons

That would not work unless you addressed the center diff and locked it someway.

to make 2wd the right way you would have to remove front diff, take front axles apart, remove center axle, so there is no drag on the front tires

center diff you would need way thicker oil/grease, it might be beneficial to have the diff working a bit as there is no slipper....so maybe 500k to 1m ?

Just for the sake of joining the current topic.

I just had a similar conversation with a friend of mine.

He brought up 2 good points.

1 - Why would some one want to buy a $430.00 4x4 kit, just to convert it to 2wd ?

2 - If it was capable of being competitive, Tye Tessman would have already done it.

I admit, I was curious myself, until he challenged me with those 2 questions.

What's the advantaged of 2 holes compared to 4 holes?

Other companies like Xray and Schumacher that have done this haven't had good luck with their cars. They pretty much only work well on carpet/astro. I would just get a proper 2wd car for now and/or wait for one from HB.

Default Other Brand Shock Pistons

Since no one is answering the questions on how to use other brand shock pistons with this car, let me take a crack at it and have other correct.

The car has washers that go above and below the piston. So even if you use a TLR piston, for example, the larger hole will probably still not be larger than the washer.

So one would mount up the piston but not tighten down the screw completely. Then start building the shock. Once the piston is build, the you could tighten up the screw and the piston would be centered and thus work properly.

P.S. Ok, maybe I understand why no one replied. I really had to word that carefully without it making the whole explanation go in a different direction. Not perfect, but close.

Finally got my diff
Parts 2 days late thank you USPS. Need gearing for an 8.5. Not entirely sure I have confidence In. This car yet so I'm gong
To take it easy at first. Sloppy city this is, but
It's apparently normal. Must have bulletproof bearings in the front hubs. Even with the crush tubes that front end is a mess.
