Are you guys running gear diffs in front and rear (carpet racing)?

What diff fluids do you guys recommend starting with?
I race asphalt, but i would recommend 1000-2000 wt oil in the rear, and anything from 150,000 to 500,000 in the front depending on the grip levels and class you run

150-500k in the front would almost turn the gear diff into a spool (okay, not quite but pretty close) especially compared to the rear of 1000 or 2000. I wonder if it's even worth going to a front gear diff?

Should I also consider ECS driveshafts with a front gear diff, especially given that weight of oil?

The gear diff acts like a spool, but will give when under heavy load. I dont use ECS in the front with or without a spool.

Does anyone know if there is a difference between the Spec-R diff for the T2009 and the T3? I tried to install a Spec-R Gear Diff in a T3 and it bound on the drive shafts

I think you need to use the shorter shafts on the rear with the spec-r

Yeah, I was thinking that he may need to use the 50mm shafts instead of the 52mm. Interesting thing to find out before I buy the diffs myself.

yeah, you need to run the 50mm drive shafts, the only difference between the T3 and 2009 diffs are the pulley teeth size

Hope that helps

I believe you can use the 52mm shafts if you put 0.75mm shims between the toe blocks.

thanks guys.

I did not see where it was said that you had to use the 50mm shafts with the T3 (shrug)

James, I'm pretty sure there is no difference between the factory T2009 and T3 diffs (I swap them all the time) maybe your thinking T2008 US spec?

Pablo, I had shimed the toe blocks by 1mm, I could get it to work but with 0deg camber which would..... not work

cheers

Unless it has been updated, the kit versions of the two cars were different pulley sizes

the T2009 in kit form was 34 teeth and the T3 is a 38 tooth pulley

Hey,

Just picked up the t3 EU edition for indoor carpet rubber tire.

Any hop ups I should look into, or is all well from the box?

Below are the list of things I run on my XRAY T3: Not all of these things are absolutely neccasary, but good things to have. You will not need any parts from any other car, or any third party brands. Not in any particular order. The XRAY T3 is probably the most complete car from the kit of any sedan I can think of.

1. ECS Driveshafts

2. Springs-The car comes with 3.0 and 2.6. I would recommened purchasing 2.4, 2.8 and 3.2. These will all come in handy for both asphalt and carpet.

3. Optional 1 degree rear hubs-I use these most all the time on my car and are a good option to have.

4. Spur Gears- This is somewhat obvious. For both stock and MOD I usually have: 108,110, 112, and 116 (64 pitch Xray or RW)

5. Anti-Roll Bars-I almost always run the kit bars, but its good to keep some extras. 1.3 for the front is good one to have.

6. Hard front bumper-I run the Xray hard front bumper and have been for close to a year. I know others who use other bumpers, like parma, or cut their own. That's up to you.

7. Spares-You may want some extra front knuckles, C-hubs, and/or arms, but I rarely find myself braking any parts.

Some of these are just good things to have, while not completely needed. Everyone who has an XRAY T3 that I know who have all these parts/options on hand.
