I got a like new LCG from a friend at my club that only ever been ran on carpet. The car is excellent and it got its first big meeting this weekend with me.
I had the SSG when it was released followed by the Black Edition. I bought this car because I only race 13.5 b/l and I know that in this class, shaft is best!

Sup guys i have been out of the game a few years now. Lookin to get going again just read here that yokomo has just about obsoleted this car? Man that bites... I love my shaft drive. I got enough parts to last a while but then a brushless motor too. It never ends huh

I still run my CGM in the vintage class, the car does very well. Once you learn how to set it up this car is very stable and easy to drive.
Lastly, the car is still well supported by Yokomo, USA, because it is the base chassis for their Drifting car Platforms and I do not see that changing anytime soon. As long as I can get parts, I will continue to run this car in some form of TC racing - I know it like the back of my hand.

The last time I raced the car it was very close to being dialed in. At the local big race anyways. Just seemed like everytime I went to a real big race like the novak deal I just fought everything. The car is still set other than motor. Which I am looking into right now. I did all stock rubber around heare. Very limited 19 turn with it..

Qualified 4th with my LCG in a very good field of 27t / 13.5bl class.
1st final was ruined bye the race offical who saw the tail end of a crash that started at the start of the final and chose my to surve a 5 second stop/go. Apon going my car was drilled by a tail ender and they managed to push my cells into the prop-shaft. Game over.
2nd final was a little better and I ended it in 5th.
Still some work to do on set-up though.
I also had problems with the TIR spool which I got with the car. One of the out-drives kept coming away from the main spool body. I ended up rapping a small stripe of cell tape around the pin in the spool body and pushed v/hard the lose out-drive on to the pin. Hope this holds ok.

I have been away from racing for several years and have decided to dust off my old SD and run it at the local carpet track.
I would like to spruce it up a bit first, however.
For carpet track racing on foams, which would be better, the Rayspeed conversion or the LCG conversion?

bringing my SD-SSG back from the dead as a lender to a beginner's friend of mine.
does anyone has an "easy-to-drive-but-still-fast" setup to share to run with a 23T and rock-hard spec rubber tires on a tight, medium-grip, indoor track? The car has all the gizmos from the good ole days, full graphite loaded suspension, rear shock tower up front, I have all the rayspeed springs, rotated servo, and so on so forth.
Any startup point help is welcome. Typically we run spools on these layouts in the expert class now (where I run).

Rotated servo setup?
I've installed the one way center shaft in mine and had to reduce my steering EPA... The steering links hit the one way bearing, lol.
Some negative camber on the front wheels and very little on the rear makes for a fairly neutral and easy to drive setup.

Gearing question for SD newbie
I inherited a SD to check out the on road racing fun. I am running 17.5 Novak and running an FDR of 3.8 now (95x58). I have the rear end apart to remove a stripped motor mount bolt. So I have the option to switch spurs. My question is there a benefit to running a smaller spur/larger pinon or the other way in regards to motor temp? I can get to 3.8 with a 90x53, just curious if there is a rule of thumb on which way is better on the motor. Hopefully that made sense.

I ran the LCG last season.
I started with a 96 spur 64 pitch and worked down to a 85. Yes, I found a 85 very old stock on the LHS walls.
It felt a lot smoother and would spool up to speed quicker, at least that is what it felt like.
