The idea of a front spool is to give better traction out of the corner by locking the front axles together, the downside is that it kills turn in steering. Not a problem on large asphalt tracks as the reduced steering helps stabilise the car under braking.

Spools came about because we used to use front one ways as the extra traction out of the corners of the locked front axle was faster, but rear wheel only braking made the cars very unstable and front one ways were starting to be banned from some big meetings. The spool gave you that extra traction out of the corners, and the chassis were redesigned to compensate for the lack of entry steering from the spool.

In theory a front diff will always be faster on tight high grip carpet tracks, but with chassis design and setup based around the front spool it's not always the case.

This setups is awsome with sorex 28, car is a litle more "egdy" with spool, you can also try Yokomo yellow spring in the rear...

Hi,
what do you need the small carbon parts for? They come with the stiff chassis.
Maybe to connect the left and rigth pivot balls in the wishobones and make the alloy screws last longer?

They do two things. Help to stop screws pulling through the chassis in a big accident, and also stiffen the rear of the car up and help it rotate through the corners better.
Alternatively, you can leave them off and use alloy screws in the back of the car as well as the front.

Shock Tower

I have two Mi5 cars, and both of the have leaking diffs. It seems to come out from where the two parts are assembly togehter, and comming out where the two o-rings are located. Does anyone have a fix for this ?

Pressure is too high. Too much oil or air bubble. Let it sit till all air bubbles are gone before you close the diff case. Fill the oil only till the shafts meet the level of oil. If not, ask anybody else LOL

Had a great day club racing with the Mi5! Car is on pace and has been very durable. Finished 3rd after starting 9th in the A! 3 orings solved the leaking rear diff. I'm running the shocks with the cut shafts and Yokomo Springs. (Emulsion style)
