Mid-Motored TC3?

hi guys,
sorry been a bit busy to reply recently.
have two cars nearly ready.
ntc3 parts are an option. and yes it is possible to use the nitro rear end on the mid tc3.
but you shouldnt need it just for the strength, the tc3 is strong as it is!
liam- afraid i am a stock/spec racer, it was at the torc round at stafford yesterday but not racing, and i hope this weekend for the stock national it will be running.
you have a good eye for parts! spot on with the schuy straps! will get some custom ones made if i run it more.

It reminds me of the original TTech Predators - except they had the batteries at the front and the motor at the rear. Having a saddle pack style battery pack and shaft drive has always been quite different!
Here's something to ponder though, in real car terms, regarding motor placement, it would only be rear motor if the motor was behind the rear axle - eg, Porsche 911, original VW Beetle. So working off this theory, a normal TC3 would be mid motored. Would I be correct in saying this or can someone explain otherwise?

Correct. Anything with the motor placed in between the front and rear axles is considered mid-motor. You have rear mid-motored cars (Ferrari, Lotus, etc.) and front mid-motored cars (Panoz) but this is more of a mid mid-motored car. Just to distinguish it from the original TC3.

Also, since most shaft drive cars are very similiar, this wouldn't be an awkward conversion for other shaft drive cars like the Yokomo and the Tamiya. All you need is a front and rear gear box, Yokomo motor mount, battery straps and a TC3 steering rack. This is using Ross' chassis plate and top deck though, I don't know what the TC3M chassis plate would be like, although I would imagine it wouldn't be far off Ross' design.

Yup! I agree with the concept of having a mid-motor car.. Its design would be not far to the TC3M..

Guys are you planning on running one or two upper decks? The slotted area looks really really thin. and dont those right angles make it real fragille? I know right angles make things stronger, like walls, but that is some real thin meat near the spur cut out. Did you guys every entertain the thoughts of "rounding the corders" in that area. It might have added stability.
