Hi dudes,
I'm looking for a fast servo to mount on my tourer. Right now using a KO 2123, and it beats the heck out of my hitec 5925 in the chicanes. Problem is the 2123 has this 7V wire which is annoying to run from the left to right of the car.

What would you use? Post up!

how fast do u wan it 2 b???...
it would take a really gd RCer to notice the difference,...
i would suggest the KO2143 or if space is limited,the futaba 9550 which has rather decent spec.

futaba 9402 or if you want digital, 9450. very strong and reliable, mine went through 4 different cars for steering duty, including a nitro RC, and it's still working fine. .09 sec speed and 110oz/in torque - i think both servos have the same specs.

Fast?? KO 2015......

Only problem is;
1. It is not in production now
2. You still have to run the FET wire

but.............it is 0.05s!!

Alternative would be the KO 2143, or Sanwa WR

I bought a LOT of servos looking for the "fastest." Beware though, manufacturer specs are deceiving. Here is a list of what I have and what I think of them.

KO-2123
Speed - fastest servo (.06sec) I have ever used. Nothing comes close. However, it takes the 7.2V blue wire.

Futaba 9450
Speed - decent. Although rated at .10, its about the same speed at a Hitec 5925.

Sanwa WR (Airtronics 94757 in the states)
Speed - piss ass slow. It's rated at .07, but in reality it's slower than my Hitec and my Futaba. I think Sanwa fudged the specs. I found a way to make it go fast though...probably void your warranty.

Hitec 5925
Speed - decent. Same speed at the Futaba 9450 and faster than the Sanwa. Makes more "noise" than any of the other digital servos, but it's also the least expensive in the states.

Hi:

I'm using Futabas 9450 on all my electric tourers (TC3, TA04, Xray). On my nitro tourer I'm usiing a KO PS2001 on the steering and a 9450 on the gas/brake.

Futabas are for me the best servos you can use. You cannot go wrong with a 9450 or a newer 9550 (depending the use).

I've been using the JR 8450 digital in my X-ray and have to say, it's the fastest I've used yet. Others were, Air. 94357, Air. 94757, Fut. 9450, Fut. 9402. None compare to the speed and the holding in an electric car. I'd like to try the KO-2123 as soon as I can come up with the money, but the 8450 is working very well and I haven't noticed a need to have the steering any faster. If I do, I'll get a KO-2123.

Some time ago I heard an 'horror story' about changing the gears on some sanwa servos who reduced the torque output and speeded the movement. Never tested it, but some people says that it works perfectly.

in the old days of external fet powered servos ( they actually had a scond box hanging off the servo. We used to power std kit type servos by running the positive wire to either the blue fet power wire from the esc, or solder directly into the positive power wire from the battery. They didnt last very long, a couple of months, and you had to replace them, but much cheaper than the fet servos of the time

I did this to my Sanwa WR digital servo:

I removed the red (positive) wire from the servo. I soldered on the red wire directly to the positive on the battery. I also soldered on a choke (inductor that came with my KO servo) in line. Without the choke, the servo movement causes glitching. The Sanwa is now about as fast at the KO2123. I've been running this for a couple of months. Since the Sanwa is coreless, it should last for a while compared to std kit type servos. Good luck

Sorry, I can't find the value of the inductor anywhere. I checked the KO website and they call it "Super Inductor for FET Servo 36554"

You might want to send an E-mail to KO to find out the value of that inductor.
