Just move the battery closer to the center!

yes i know but if I move the battery more close to the center I can't plug the bullet in the battery ... I don't remove the battery for charge

Mine fits. I'll take a picture later.

Thinking about a Reedy square lipo, centered in the chassis.....

That's the way mine is, for another five minutes. Yeah...I'm going to a battery with deans plugs on it.

The Reedy lipo would fit like a champ, and let you move all the radio gear right up front for shorter motor wires and a MUCH more sano install.

Very nice. What's it's racing weight like that?

I think it was 1376. The Thunderpower battery I switched to is 30 grams lighter, and I'm sure I can take at least 6" of wire off it when I reinstall the speed control.

The VW scirocco body is a portly 135 grams, with pretty minimal paint.

I'm going to try and get the car more sorted like this, then I think I'm going to try a shorty lipo in the rear/center, and if that's successful (or isn't), ill ballast the chassis up to whatever the difference between the square battery and the shorty is.

Default FF-03 Upgrade

Thinking of getting the FF-03 upgrade kit as I just can't get hold of the Evo kit. How does it compare with the carbon reinforced chassis? Is it worth getting it?

Looking at running one in USGT where they have a FWD weight base limit of 1200. Just wonder how easy it would be to get to that weight with a FF03.

Last time I saw, EVO kit available at speedtechrcracing.com. Almost $400 though.

My FF03 with a silver can, QC3 ESC, shorty pack, lovely Tamiya CF chassis kit, low-profile servo, receiver, transponder and (very tall and portly-seeming) Civic R body weighs 254 grams ready to run. I could probably shave another 20 grams off by cutting wires shorter and using aluminum screws. Maybe another 10 or 20 grams by using the Tamiya Integra body. Seems like theoretically it ought to be possible to get an FF03 down into the 1200 gram range.

Oh and ...

FF03 fans, what weight oil should one use in the Tamiya gear differential PN 54471? I'm running on a tight-ish and very bumpy carpet.

start with 500k... if the car's too slow around the corners (entry) you can try going down to 300k or 100k (but sacrifice a bit of rip out of the corner).
