I started to adjust my car to USGT rule ! I received my spec tire and wheels this morning and I ordered my SMC 4300mah 50C shorty pack yesterday ( 75g less than my 5000mah wolfpack ) and my Tamiya Civic typeR JAS motorsport body ! I will probably run my old LRP X12 21.5 motor or buying another one like orca motor

Let me know what your final race setup weight. I'm looking at getting one for Usgt and running the 1200 weight if I can swing it.

Body selection is going to be the biggest factor in your weight goals.

A tamiya LW NSX is 58 grams. A VW Golf is like 140.

for the moment my EVO is at 1375g .
SMC shorty is +- 70g less
I will switched my ESC for a Tekin Gen 2 +- 20g less
I will changed the body for one with less paint ( Honda civic JAS motorsport )

I don't know if the LRP x12 is more heavy than a novak balistic

I hope to go below the 1250g

I switch the gear diff with putty for ball diff = -20g
cut extra wire =-5g

with JAS motorsport civic ( no light bucket, no Mirror , no roof trap ) = 1276g reedy race
with civic EG body = 1253g

Is there anything I can do to try to make the gear diff work reliably?

from the top of my head...
1. don't use putty
2. use metal gears
3. use the orange o-rings off the 417v5 (or similar)
4. green slime the o-ring to death
5. shim it properly

the gear diff is reliable but still needs some maintenance... anti wear grease on the outdrives help "delay" the shaft pins from scraping through the metal but would eventually need to be replaced (both the outdrive and the shaft). you can op to use the TA06 option lightweight outdrives which uses a 3.5mm cushion/c-protector. once there's a grove on the outdrive, i noticed the car starts to stutter around corners (high grip carpet).

It seems very hard to get FF03 right at Tamiya America. I run GTI cup body without aid of any aero and it is very very loose. Full Sauce rear, and no sauce front do not fix it completely. I know the wing on vw scirocco will help but have not tried it yet. harder spring at the rear like blue do help to certain degree but once over board the traction goes away again. Thinking of trying the GTI 35 edition with big wings in the back next time also. Any suggestions on how to gain traction on the rear?

increase toe-in
softer rear spring
increase up-travel ( droop )
stand up rear shock

what diff are you using ? gear, ball, spool ?

Are the gear diffs unreliable?

I need to increase toe in for sure
will try red next time and decrease to 27.5 oil
shock is pretty stood up already
I use gear diff with ride 45 diff putty
I honestly think the car is going to be okay once using a body with any wing on it.

You can also try going down to 500k oil in your diff. It helped calm a buddy's car dow after running 1M oil.

Running the outer camber link (shorter link) in front also helped calm the car down in my experience. I run yellow springs and red swaybar in front and blue spring + blue swaybar in the rear (asphalt track)

Hths.
