I totally agree with Darkseid, the increase you will see will largely depend on the packs you are coming from.
In my case they were top budget GP3700 packs but they date from march last year. So the best performance is certainly out of them. If I however compare them to the rest of the competitors fields I still think they are very good. That is probably the reason I don't see a lot of speed increase when I put in a Lipo.

I also compared their discharge graphs to each other and that also indicated that they are pretty equal. It is only after about 2000 Mah has gone that the Lipo really kicks the ass of the GP batteries. This is off course due to the fact that the GP3700 only has a little more than 1000 Mah in it and is going down while the Lipo still has more than 2500 Mah in it and still stays steady.

My conclusion thus far still is that I am very happy with Lipo power

Why are we comparing ourselves to the AMA? Is 80% of our constituents 65 or older with nothing better to do than build airplanes, rant and rave when they didn't bother reading the instructions because back in their day the man was the man?

2000 claims for batteries alone? When was the last time ROAR had 2000 claims total? if we have more claims than votes cast maybe we need to require the claims to be accompanied with voting.

We are not comparing ourselves to the AMA. The number of claims is relevant, if we had 2000 claims, there would be no ROAR. That is the whole point of bringing up that number. Once again, we have to be prudent in the descisions we make, otherwise we could really have big problems on our hands. Again my opinion is that once we resolve the other issues related to Lipo, the safety part will have taken care of itself.

You'll also have to remember that a crash with an RC car/truck is nowhere near the speed of an RC airplane/Helicopter.

with the strong case they have made, no need to worry about any damage by a crash !

percentages MAY be relevent if you compared the same demographics. Nobody wants claims but let's make sure we're looking at the information straight and not lopsided due to circumstances. Swinging around numbers that do not relate directly to our data set just creates FUD.

It actually doesnt seem all that strong. I had to take the sticker off (shoe goo melted it). It seems to come apart easily and is thinner plastic then you would think.

Don't read to deep into anything. You guys are like rabid dogs. How many times do I have to say that the other items need to be resolved, at which point ANY percieved or actual safety issues should resolve themselves. PERCEPTION

We can go around all day on numbers and percentages. I used those numbers an example why the EXCOMM and the comittees are being diligent in thier assesment and discussion of this new tech. I am not SWINGING anything around Mason.

ROAR is looking into Lipo's and the issues related to them. I updated this thread to make sure it's members knew that something was being done.
