Which pit tires work on the f103 that are still able to be found?

R1 Hard 0542 rear

and F3 Soft 0544 front for carpet work well

The F1 Soft 0541 and Med 0543 work well on asphalt

R1 Hard is THE rear for either surface so far

I've tested the re-branded pit shimizu tires from tamiya on an indoor carpet track and now i can understand why lot's of you guys are saying that those tires are the best combo.
With the original rubber tamiya tires i was unable to compete with the other guys who are running on foam tires, but with the TCS tamiya tires i was able to compete.
The TCS tires makes the car more smooth in cornering and a lot easier to drive.
All i need to find is some more on power steering and i will be even faster
Definately worth the money, will be buying some more

Hi All,

Thanks for the tips, went with the R1 Hard 0542 rear and F3 Soft 0544 front for carpet running for my F103. I'm struggling with power-on oversteer out of the slow corners, and understeer through the fast bends. Any tips anyone can offer for setup please, as I've only run foams before.

I've found that generally stiffening the car up seems to work - stiffer center shock spring, tightened the T-bar right up. I've also noticed that the rears are only wearing on the extreme edges and along the center, with a bit of a rise in the tyre along the centre that no amount of sanding on the tyre truer seems to improve - how long should it take the tyres to come into a good operating phase - I'd also be interested as to roughly how long they should last?

I found rear R1 give more grip than SuperSoft (fitted to FGX)

Front seem to yield less grip than SuperSoft ( same)

This is indoors, bumpy , tight , grippy concrete (anti-slip painted)

Ive run both the 571/572 and Ride R1 combos on my 104WGP here on outdoor asphalt. What I can say, is that they handle very very differently.
Whilst with the 571/572 combo, I generally had to go harder on the front to take away steering, with the R1's, you need to go soft soft soft to gain some back. (this is 17.5 blinky btw). The R1 front compound is pretty hard, so doesn't really generate a lot of steering. Having said that, they do last a long time (at least 20+ 8min runs), but there is a performace peak. Take about 5runs to break in, then they are good for fast times for about 7-8 runs, then start to tail off again, at least thats my findings (based on practise for the nationals demo class out here, which we all used R1's as spec tyre).

Having said all that... I've still set my fastest times with the R1's over the 571/572... so worth trying out if you can get the car setup for them.
