I think that the Hodge comment was a joke. The XXX-S will hold it own but if you enter a turn right behind a TC3 the TC3 will pull away. In Mod the car kills anything made right now.

I think at lot has to be said about batteries and motors as well. It is a complete package including the driver.

I dont seem to be have a problem keeping up with the other cars.

There are a lot of setups floating around. Check out the Losi site, TT, and other sites and you will see that there are people trying different things.

I think it is evident that the TC3 does have a hand up in the stock class due to punch or speed or some handling trait that the XXX-S sedans have not found yet. I beleive that the Losi can become as quick in this class but it will take a few months of playing with setups and gearing to figure out what makes this car go as fast as a TC3 in stock.

Remember when the TC3 came out and everyone labeled it as 'yet another touring car'. Now all of a sudden, the TC3 is the ticket in the stock class. I think that 2 years of guys running the car on carpet and developing setups that travel through the grapevine and, of course, it's drivetrain have given it the edge over the relatively new XXX-S.

I just want to compare to other drivers so that I can see if my way of thinking is on the right path.

Look at the Faq page. It has the gearing table. As far as setup - depends on surface and nature of the track layout. A lot of variables.

As asphalt I run Rons setup for tight, technical tracks. All depends on what you are trying to get the car to do.

Bobby Z-I have no problem with the tc3's, in fact I'm better with my xxx-s than I am with my Factory Team Tc3. Just out of curiosity, what exactly do you mean it's drivetrain have given it the edge over the relatively new XXX-S? Could you be more specific about that. One thing is for sure, the xxx-s has more tuning options than the tc3, adjustable wheelbase for the front, optional pulley to underdrive or overdrive the car, 0,2 or *4* degrees of kickup and anti-squat. Optional roll center blocks to have a high or low roll center. I beleive the single-belt design has the edge over all other touring cars for the fact that there is less rotating mass in the drivetrain. I got one super light weight belt-thats is, you got a steel or aluminum input shaft, e-clips, steel screws, and a composite beveled gearX2. Not to mention the weight of the drive cups and main drive shaft. Oh-did I mention its got a 98% sealed drivetrain.

the 2% might be the pass-through you might use for the battery wires.

1% of debris gets in through the bottom cover and and the other 1% gets in through the gear cover. I've had the xxx-s for over three months now, it's been in over 20 races(parking lot) and the drivetrain is clean as a whistle.

Hey MDawson, I run my wires over the gear cover, but there is a little gap on the sides of the cover even though you can slightly bend the cover when its off so that it fits interferencely. I like the new xxx-s tech site you've built.

if you run tiny strips of servo tape around the area where the gear cover and access area meet. that keeps some of the 1% stuff out.

i had this guy who approached me last week wondering why he had so much dust in his car; it didnt take long to notice he made dime-sized access holes on both sides of the gear cover for battery wire pass-through. needless to say problem is fixed now.

The holes are suppose to be less then dime size? Then how do I route my 1 gague wire through the cover?

that Coax cable is not good for RC, better for cable tv.

MDawson- Yeah that will let debris get in(dime-sized holes). Again I run my wires over the cover but I want that low CG look everyone got but without sacraficing my clean drivetrain for it. I was thinking and this could be a bad thought, drill two holes in each side of the cover sideXside where you could fit two rubber grommets in for each wire. Debris won't get in through the sides of the gromments and the wires should fit perfectly in the gromments so no debris could enter there as well. Hemmm- I think I try that out this weekend.

The grommets do work. You will find that when a need arises to get into that area it can be tricky to check belt tension and other things with the gear cover flopping around and in the way.

I run one wire over the rear of the gear cover and one over the front of the gear cover.
