Wow, this is a long thread--it's cool to have a guy from Novak here though!
Anyways, I've been searching long and hard for a good ESC. I know that the GTX is one of the best ESC's out there, but right now I would only be buying a used one, since new they cost quite a bit. Right now I have the RTR controller for the TT-01, and a 27mhz AM receiver. What would I be missing out in the performance of the GTX with this controller? I mean, does it make sense to upgrade my ESC if my controller is still stock?
Also, the receiver wire is really short and I want to solder a new wire to it. Does the wire have to be a certain length?
Thanks guys!

Help
HI, Hope you might be able to help me out.
I'm having some issues and Im n ot sure whether it's the ESC or not, I run modified and was running a 4.5, 5 cells with the GTB. After anywhere from 1-4 minutes I would not be able to get full throttle, the car would just shudder once it reached a certain rev it seemed.
I changed rotors in the motor, reset the ESC 5 times, changed motors, put a capacitor accross the receiver, un bundled all my neat wires so they were touching but nothing seemed to fix the problem.
The ESC got to a max of 26deg C and the motor about 40deg C so no-where near thermal temps,
I thought it may have been my batteries but we discounted that as the car still had full punch and excelleration up to a certain rev, I wasnt loosing steering so it didnt appear to be interference. The car would run superbly for a while until this started.
What do you think it may be, Im resigned to the fact it is probably the ESC giving up on me, but thought I'd ask before getting another.
I was geared at 8.70, where some other mods were geared up to 8.2, so I wasn't the gearing either.
Cheers
Aaron

You shouldn't really be missing out on any performance because of your radio... the GTX should be Faaaaaaar superior to the ESC you currently have.
I would definately tend to that short RX antenna wire though...that can lead to glitching and short range issues!

Aaron,
That's a tough one...
Have you tried using a different motor just to be sure that it's not the motor...?
The only other thing I can think of is that your temperature protection is acting up.. I know it's not getting hot... but I've seen a few ESCs shut down early like that...
