I picked up a Trinity D4 off of here for a good price. Motor was only ran twice, I couldn't pass it up. It's a 6.5t D4 though, it won't blow my ball diff or transmission apart or anything will it lol?

I'm excited! Trinity D4's are sweet!

Any gearing recommendations?

I'm running the stock RB6 Spur, 76T I think.

Trinity D4's are on the way.

I will run small, and large tracks

Steel 48 pitch, or aluminum 48 pitch pinions?

Aluminum is less rotating mass, and less wear on plastic spur?

Also, I used the graphite black grease to lube my transmission. I ran out of the white grease building the ball diff. I assume the black grease is fine? Transmission rotates very smooth. And diff is even smoother.

How do you guys like the Trakpower 100C 2S saddle packs? They are a little heavier at around 275 grams. I got a pair on the way.

I ordered those.
I thought I remember you saying that you will use the car for more than just driving it around the track so with that thought in mind I think they will do just fine. When buying batteries, usually, the higher the Mah the longer the run time.

Now the racer in me wants to inform you that almost everyone is running shorty packs now but don't let that stop you from running saddles. Saddle packs tend to have more capacity than a shorty so you will have a lot of time having fun.

Anything can blow a ball differential if it is not maintained or set properly. I would recommend that you read the How To Properly Build And Break In a Ball Differential and Slipper Clutch thread. You might already know this but it is a nice refresher.

I would go with aluminum if you can. I don't know if one type of metal wears the plastic faster or not but it is nice to have less rotating mass.

You must have used a lot of grease building the diff. Not a big deal because any excess grease will just get spun off the differential. As for the gears, I run mine dry but adding grease should not hurt it but it will attract dirt so you may have to clean it more frequently.

This is all great info!

I was big in to 4WD SCT racing. I sold off my stuff, because I got a itch for 2WD MOD. So, it's almost like I am starting over again. I heard the saddle packs made the RB6 not feel as nimble as a shorty. I was tempted to get the ProTek 2800MAH shorty at only 147 grams that's light! But, I know that 2,800 MAH is better for spec class 17.5 racing with a much lower MAH per minute draw.

I'm gonna run aluminum pinions.

I've got 12 tires coming, pinions, D4 10.5 certified, D4 6.5 modified, (3) aluminum pinions 17/20/24. And some Trakpower 100C 2S saddles.

Once everything gets here I will be able to fine tune everything and turn some laps. I curious to compare the 10.5 certified to the 6.5 modified and how fast and smooth I can run with them each.

Thanks for the help!

IMO, the 6.5 would be to much for the track but I have been wrong before. You may have to turn down your radio endpoint because the car is to fast and is out of control.

That is all that Tower sells, complete kits and no parts.

As for being discontinued, that would only be speculation on at this point because there has been no official announcement as of right now. So your guess is as good as mine.

Tower sold Kyosho a long time ago and then stopped for several years. They just recently started carrying the kits. Not sure it they plan to do parts again.

Once again has anyone heard if KYO plans to release their own 3 gear MM transmission soon?

Questions??

I ordered this RC (my first) and I'll receive it late this week.
I'm really excited but I realized that I needed Onroad rear tired, any recommendations? I'm not sure which will fit.

Have not heard so my guess is no. 90% of the time they introduce new items at the beginning of every month.

They have one I have seen it but who knows when it will release. Four gear works fine so I doubt it's a rush for them.

http://www.neobuggy.net/2015/10/02/k...onversion-kit/

their next version of the RB6 for hi-bite tracks looks like a DEX210F
http://www.redrc.net/2016/03/kyosho-...onversion-kit/

which will be rather expensive

I heard some rumors about a 3 gear and a laydown Transmission in the works on a new kit that has a different rear end
