Thanks for the advise. I will check my LHS and see how it works out. If not, getting a new kit would prob be a better choice.

Also in the kit you get the body and wheels. Those two items will more than double the $40 estimate.

for what the rm kits are going for with shipping, even with a body, rims and tires, you'd still be under the price of an RM

Tamiya is in the process of discontinuing the F103RM to likely replace it with an F103 with a different body set. So, to find the RM kit, you'll have to do a little searching.

We can only hope they don't mess over the open wheel class. I wish more companies would/could step back into this market. I'd like to see any F103 or F104 or whatever they decide to call it released quickly to match the demand. I'd like to see easy to find body sets. I'd like the small parts sold individually instead of in parts bags. It seems almost like a buy one build one philosophy.

I ordered 2 M body sets to put on the shelf for later TCS projects. I've also picked up an RC Indycars Spitfire chassis for an F1 Open class as parts for this car will so much easier to come by. I like my F103, but at times I'm afraid one more break and I'll be out of parts again.

Oh Easily. A body, wheels and tires are probably more around $80-90. Plus if you want any little extra flip ups or diffusers, you add even more to that.

I had an F103 GT and I sold it and just bought the F103R kit. I worked it out that with all the upgrades I wanted (and not even Tamiya parts) it would be about the same as just buying the new kit. At least by buying the new kit, you are def. using all Tamiya parts and are TCS legal if you ever have the chance to race that.

Default F103 ??

Haven't been here is quite some time and have not raced the f-103 in like forever.
Is the class coming back? (I hope)
Where can I get parts, mainly tires, wheels, and bodies.

I live in Orange County, CA. Is the Tamiya track in Aliso Viejo still being used?

Lots of questions, Thanks for the help.

Yes, the AV track is still open for practice on Saturdays (bring your own power, or charge from your car).

Tamiya is teasing the market by releasing a limited 15th anniversary car as well as a re-release of a few generic livery F1 cars. Delivery of product to US based LHS are spotty.

It seems to be very popular localy. It was rumored that 22 F103 drivers had registered for the rained out Feb. TCS event in AV two weeks ago.

Tamiyausa.com is a fair source of parts, but it seems the most reliable are offshore HK based suppliers like rcmart. Check out the F103 threads for more info.

I'm planning on racing my F103R in the Memphis TCS race this year. I'm trying to figure out what spare parts I should stock up on for the race. What parts break the most? What tires should I run on an outdoor asphalt track? Any help you guys can give me would be great.

I don't think all 3 part numbers were discontinued though.

Per Tamiya USA:
84031 Discontinued. T body
84032 Check your local hobby store. L body
49498 Check your local hobby store. M body
84056 Check you local hobby store. Limited Edition R 15th Anniversary Ed.

The C body kit is due out next month. I'd bet a new chassis kit is coming out also.

Is this cast in stone? Don't know.

it shows on order, but who knows if it will come in. in HK, they tell me its already been discontinued, but there might be some left somewhere...
