Default Werks Racing--best CS around

I recently had a parts issue w/ my .28 B& Pro and talked to one of the rep's. @ WR and he went out of his way to find a carb retainer that was obsolete and sent it to me at no charge. Can't remember your name but anyway...'Good Lookin'n Out"...you ROCK!!...Thanks Again!

Hello,
Bought a NIB B5Pro the other day and I'm just curious to know how I can tell if it has the updated carb. Any ideas?

Another question. I read Ron's break-in directions and I'm down to the .5 mm idle opening and it will idle for a long while. HSN flush. I'm on my 6th tank. When I do some 3/4 throttle passes and let off, it flames out. Running a 97T on Byrons 30%. FYI: Clutch bearings are good and throttle servo is not shutting down the idle gap causing the flame out. Any ideas?

We switched to the new card way back in the beginning of 2010 so any shop that has one in stock will be with the updated carb.

Is the new carb palstic or aluminum?

Take a look at my instructions again if you would. On the 6th tank you should not already have your idle gap set to 0.5mm which is where it will be when you are heading towards race tune. You should also not be running over 1/2 throttle yet either lol! First tank idled through, second tank putt around doing figure 8's, next tank a couple mph faster etc. etc. etc each tank leaning the LS 1-2 hours. Once you get to 1/2 throttle of above then you set the idle gap to roughly .5mm, you then adjust the idle speed using the LS needle until you have a smooth/steady idle. Then run the car and start leaning the HS needle 1-2 hours each tank. When you lean the HS needle, because of how the carb works you are by default leaning the LS needle also. So...the idle speed will increase so you have to richen the LS 1-2 hours to bring the idle back down. Repeat each tank until you start getting towards race speed.

In a nutshell though if your engine conks out when you close the slide then your usually either too rich on your LS. In any case your moving a little too fast with the break in. Take your time (your engine will thank you) and go back to flush on both of the needles and start again with the engine running rich.

Regards,

Ron

Hey dnebout,

Do yourself a favor and get some Werks #5 plugs ... they are hotter than the 97T and will help with a more consistant idle.

Default glow plug

I've been using an O'donnell 97t plug for my b5 pro, but the idle doesn't seem as consistent as I would like. Are more people using the Werks #5 plug?

I think that you are going to find that a lot of the people use our #5 with the B5-Pro. Regarding idle what exactly are you experiencing??
