SC10 4x4 Thread

You have another theory? We fix the major weakness in this truck for nothing, guys start busting drive line parts, and crying like a bunch of sisies.
My theory is that now the truck will put power down, it's chewing up the weakest part of the drive line due to deflection. That would be the idler in the rear. Maybe it breaks teeth off from shock loading. Maybe from deflection.
The horrible price we pay to be a second a lap faster.

Plus the placement of it it's nowhere near perfect (curve shaped instead of straight drivetrain).
It requieres you to run a loose slipper setup, want it or not.
I'm still faster than I ever was with an almost locked down slipper.

So I'm wondering if & when AE comes out with their pinned shaft that the top shaft gear and/or the idler gear may be wider and of a stronger material. Kyosho did this with their rb5 idler gear, it's their SP idler gear.

Pinned, more like 5k rear, 10k front.
You have a tuning future.
#8905
If you're not running a Pinned rear shaft. (please read the last 30 or so pages for info about that) Then 5k rear, 30k front would be a middle ground. Other's will suggest differently probably, but that's the average around here.

I know that lots of folks dissagree with me. but I have an opinion aswell
I have tested it. I have tested everything I could with this truck
But this whole topshaft pinning is highly exaggerated.
I see folks claiming that they are a whole second a lap faster.
Claiming that this truck has a massive acceleration now, opposite then before
The biggest effect this topshaft pinning has is psychological
O yes, you may be a second faster, but it is the driver for sure, not the pinned topshaft, not the whole second that they claim
its a hype

I have an opinion too. Please just sell the truck and get a Losi so we can move on.

And Craig, there is no reason to call people morons. It is not as if this is a mod that has been done by everyone, knowing how it should be properly set up. When trying something new, there are sometimes unintended consiqueses due to unseen variables.
The freak, the only thing I have broken has been a shock shaft end. My front bumper skind ikid is pretty worn, and I also wore out the rear skid. Oh, and I also wore out the annodize on the inide of one of my shocks. lol. and as previously stated by others, the stock a-arms have a tendency to sag or bow.

If there are people who are seriously running faster laps, and there are pro's who are running fster lapes, then it must not be hype. I cannot say that a pinned topshaft will be better for everyone and every track condition, but as you can see from others opinions on this site, they claim to be faster. Further more, how can you prove it is a placebo effect?
