For those of us just entering this thread, I see some confusing info as I'm attempting to look back through this massive thread.
I only have a 540 7.5 and an old quantum comp (without fan) on a relatively flat and wide open track. I could use a bit more umph and temps are running pretty hot. I picked up the 13mm to try to decrease the heat, but ultimately assume I'll want to get a 550 can.
I see references to "little green" and others when referring to motors. I see hobbywing 120A commonly referenced, but that appears to only support up to a 540 can at 5.5t (or is this just their official recommendation and it can actually do quite a bit more). In most people's opinion, what is the "best" combo for motor/esc that people are getting that is budget friendly for those of us just picking up this truck?
Thanks.

Was an even more kick ace deal when they where $107 or so. I remember seeing the combo on sale around x-mas for $85

Take the fan and put it on the esc. Gear to around 10.6:1, that would be 14/58 or 15/62, or there abouts.
For the money it cain't be beat.

I was going to buy one of these but I'm alittle concerned when I see mass amouts of them for sale with titles like "one run, one race, etc". That kind of looks like it only took one run for people to realize there is something wrong with it or something. I can't speak first hand about the truck but all those for sale ads could lead one to second guess getting one. Whats really up with them?

Well i did some testing tonight an went through 3 packs with no belt failure!! all i did was retighten the chassis screws and on the guard i tighten the front screw and left the rear one looser so when the chassis did flex it wouldnt bow! worked great, problem solved at least in my case.

installed clutch basket today. 2 HD pads in basket , 1 standard pad behind spur. Yes , instant power , my truck has never done a wheelstand on concrete before , now it does . I know this isnt a trick that translates to a useful tuning tool for the track but I can see the difference in rear wheel traction straight away. practice day this saturday so I will be putting a heap of packs thru it and cant wait . here is my local track http://youtu.be/nTZ3EWXtNc4 this was a 1/8 nitro meet and the 1/10 cars dont use the back straight , as you can see , big , fast and dusty ! the sc10 4x4 on this track is an absolute screamer ! thanks again Mac for a well designed and functional product .
