Read the manual again... it says 3mm (or 1/8") deflection

Default Motor Question

Gentlemen,
New to the hobby so bear with me. I am running the Mike Truhe edition Novak in my truck and it seems kinda slow. The truck runs/drives great, but on the straight away I am getting passed like I am standing still. I have a MMP with the 4 pole I believe it was 2900 or 2000 something KV, this motor seemed really slow, like I needed to run more than 2S battery maybe 3 or 4S, I tried changing pinion, but not much more top speed. Question is: THe MMP 4 pole is it enough motor and should it be running pretty fast on a 2S? (maybe the motor is bad) Next question, anybody else found that the novak is a good motor just a little slow, or do you think I might have 2 motors that are bad on the truck. Finaly question: Given what I am running, what should I be running to give me a little more top end without losing the punch that I enjoy so much. Thanks for your help.

I woud add some boost or advanced timing with the novak motor, depending on what speed control you are running. try between 10-20 degs between 10000-20000 rpms for the top end.

Honestly? I was a team driver some for a long time and still know the guys and I KNOW that noone has something good to say about these motors. We have here a little nice track where a friend drives and he says that his 50€ leopard runs longer, smoother and cooler than the lrps of the team drivers, and he is quicker on every part of the track!!! They all have heat issues, all of them!
As long as LRP is written on it, take care of your money...

It is most likely the 2400kv motor that comes as a combo with the MMP esc.......And yes that motor will only come alive on 3S+, go with the castle 3800KV 1410 4 pole motor and you'll have all the power you'll need, unless you want to spend the money and run the tekin pro4 motors...

I have a 5.5 D3 motor that I would love to run but it just doesn't have enough torque...it needs the 13mm rotor that I can't seem to find .

Also does the castle 3800 4 pole motor come with a 5mm shaft? Thanks!

Running the standard 12.5 rotor in my Murfdogg 5.5. Only issue is that most people can't keep up.

I tried a Viper 540 6.5 geared 17/93 on an outdoor track that is about 115x65. The motor was brand new never even saw a practice lap. I was on a tq run and at about 4 min 15 seconds that motor melted down. It was around 200 when I temped it. My friend was also running a 540 7.5 in his coming off around 200 every run so why does the lrp keep in truckin but the viper puked on its 1st pack? This has made me scared to try another 540. The motor ran awesome for the 4 minutes it did run. It had more grunt and top end then the sc4x 5.5 I was running previous. I would like to give the 540 another chance but I do not want to smoke another motor. I already have a NEW Tekin 540 6.5

Comes with a 3mm shaft, but you can use a shaft thickener or simply buy the 5mm shaft rebuild kit.

Although I'd rather run 48p. So damn smooth, and combined to the already smooth 3800, the couple is perfect.

I agree. I tried the 2400 motor and it was very slow on top end in the straights. Turns out it's like everyone said. You gotta Dunn 3s to make that motor sing. But the 3800 is a very good motor. Just keep it under 200 degrees. And Luke this guy sAid. The new tekin 4 pole motor is gonna be great and you can run that on the mmp esc. It's sensored so you can program your boost as well. With the castle motors you can't do that.

I ran an X11 4.5T on a Lazer ZX5 and lasted for two whole years. Until the rotor shaft snapped in half.

LRP Octas are actually really great pieces of equipment.

What is the common gearing w/ a 48p spur on a novak ballistic 4.5 550?
