i was wondering if anyone is running 3s in there trucks and how is everything holding up? i ran this past weekend and just dont seem to have the power i need when running on large outdoor tracks. everyone was having no problems clearing some of the jumps i had to roll i could clear them but it would take a lot more run up. im running the rx8 tekin 4.5 with reedy 2s 40c packs. tried a couple different tire combos and still seemed to need more power. i picked up a couple 3s packs and i have been waiting for my lrp 4.5 to be repaired by ae i called today they have had it for two months now i asked them to swap it for the 5.5 version im gonna try it out this weekend if i get it by friday.

Having a lower FDR for the 1/8th tracks with huge doubles should help. Might want to try that. The sweet spot on my 5.5T 550 motor seems to be 15T pinion, 62T spur. I had more speed with 15T pinion, 60T spur but the motor lost a bunch of punch.
Watch out with 3s... some motors won't take it. I know the Tekin site says for the 550's the 4.5T & 5.5T 2s only but the 6.5T & 7.5T 2s or 3s. Not sure what LRP has for specs on their motors.

YEP I agree its gotta be a spectrum issue . I'm running a mid grade hitech servo and it glitches the throttle at full turn unless I turn down the steering rate on the radio. I just ordered the capacitor to try to eliminate it I hope I have better luck .

thanks for the info im running 13 pinion with the standard kit spur. the timing on the esc is still at default. i was kinda stressing the timing did not want to turn it up too much the motor temps after a good race are at 145-150 its nearly 100 deg here every day in south louisiana. ill check tonight to see where my timing is at. i thought it was safe with 3s on the 5.5 ill check. my plan is to get one of the new pro4 tekins when they come out i called them today for a release date they said they dont know when yet. i had a novak ballistic 5.5 in my jammin for a year or so on 3s never had any troubles but the lrp scares me i had the 4.5 for two packs and the rotor spun on the shaft thats why it went back ill check with them to see if the 5.5 is 3s safe

I still like spektrum, since its got that bling factor but have heard too many issues to stick with it.

tech notes on tower for the lrp 5.5 says its good for 3s just a heads up in case anyone was wondering. im the only one at our local races running 2s or a sc10 4xs4 and it sure seems that everyone is getting around a lot easier than i am it seems as though i have to push the truck really hard to keep up in sections where i have to be on and off the throttle alot. especially noticeable when i try the bigger jumps.

thats what ive been struggling with since.....well, i built the truck
ive tried changing shock angles, pistons, oil, ride height, swaybars....the back of the truck is just VERY loose. i havent changed the camber link on the rear hub (in the center hole), so i will try that. anyone have other ideas??

Take a look at this post... they were having issues too. Might be a spectrum thing:

What radio are you running? Maybe your buddy has his expo set more sensitive? Also make sure you didn't just swap a motor wire to get the motor to run reverse, switch it on the computer. Example: If the esc settings are at 50% reverse and you switch a wire you could be getting 50% forward. Just trying to help good luck. 3s is insane power, I bet that thing goes 50mph lol!

I see that there is an aftermarket clutch basket to help the slipper grip better on high bite tracks. What I would like to see is Associated come out with a spur gear with a thicker recess for the slipper pad and the extra plate to have their own triple slipper set up. It would be lighter than the aftermarket one and I think you could use your factory gear cover without modifying it.
