This is also why some lightweight setups for the B4 were using black rear springs with one or two coils removed. The standard green springs were too stiff while a full black spring was too soft.

Congrats I have mine pretty good now too. the car drives really well when i drive it calm, if I get a little finger memory and drive the way I drive my SCTE and Slash it has the rear end snap around like a porsche 911 once it loses grip.

The drivers around my track seem to like it. Unfortuanatley for me, most of them are faster with my truck than I am.

Since we are only changing the number of active coils (by removing "X" number when we cut them) the spring's constant increases.
Length of spring has everything to do with it if you start cutting it.

Cut coils = less active coils = stiffer spring rate.

Although maybe you are saying stretching the spring will not affect the rate (measureably) this is true.

Yeah. To better phrase it: For the same numbe of coils, the length does not matter. With a longer spring you can compress it further, so fully compressed the longer (stretched out) spring will be able to apply more force, but only because it is being displaced further from its neutral point.

Noob question, do I need a capacitor for rx8 esc? Using the tekin sc4x motor on 2S lipo. Do not see a capacitor in the box, just wondering...

ordered a MMP and tekin 4.5T 550 motor. Savox 1258 servo.

now gotta get myself into the pain of building the damn thing! After building the SC10(rwd) i told myself i would never build a car again... lol.

Getting ready to start building mine. Just got my esc and motor combo this weekend. Question is: is it a good idea to use a RS Pro with a SC4X 4.5 motor? RX8 is pretty much out of stock at the distributors, so went with the RS Pro. Any input will be appreciated!

Also, are the kit tires worth mounting up? If not Ill use the wheels for a different set!

Default Springs

I found actual AE springs in my LHS, bought yellow fronts & rears, also found the AE aluminum hexes in stock, finally no more hexes falling off!

Yay!! I just finished my truck. It was like putting together a 3d puzzle. It seem's that i got one of the kits with a revised instruction booklet maybe? All the things i looked out for, (that were posted on the first page of this thread) seemed to be corrected in my manual. And all the tie rods were correct on lenghts and i didnt have to swap the steering/camber rods. All i need now are some sway's, and its on like Donkey Kong! Thank's Matt Howard for your set up at Mikes!
