Default GXII crankshaft on GX-7R

would the crankshaft of the GXII fit on a GX-7R?

if so, is there any benefit/gain in installing it over the stock crankshaft of the GX series?

TIA!

Yep, will drop right in. All the GXII parts are retro fittable.
From what I have picked up on I would say the GXII crank would give the 7 a little more bottom end, and maybe take a tad off the top end (which is not a concern with the GX-7R as it has so much top end anyway).
You get the lightened and ramped mod as well, plus the GXII cranks are made of a harder steel then the GX coated ones, so you won't get the end wear under the bearings like on the GX TiNi version.

thanks, grizz!

It's exactly the issue I'm having with my GX-7R's crank. My clutch bell is having too much side-to-side play already. That's why I'm planning to replace it.
Other than that, I'm still happy with my Go engine's smooth and consistent performance.

I would give the new GXII crank a try. I think it would be killer in the GX-7R / MG66.
If you want to get more life out of your GX TiNi crank (as a spare for another motor perhaps), get one of these OFNA hex extensions

http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...Hex-Screw-Full

You simply cut the end off the crank with a dremmel at the start of the threaded section (removing the worn section at the end), then use the hex as the flywheel nut. Now you have a new crankshaft end to put your bearings on. It makes the crank a little heavier than the original, but it beats buying a new crank just to have it sitting in a spare motor.

Nobody has tried the new crank to my knowledge Craig. I reckon someone will soon enough though. I would like to see one in an MG66. I reckon it would be a lovely match. Might be something for me to try over the next few weeks - I have a few new cranks lying around the place

Working Sat night shift, so all going well I will be there with bells on to get some track time while this crazy weather takes a break (hopefully).

that may work, but the best thing you could do for it is send it to Rex welch[racer 22] mine came back with BOTTOM END! more mid-top and fuel mileage. Since I got the gxII-ho the comparison between the 2. almost identical bottoms/mid about the same/top I would say mg-66/fuel mileage for now goes to the modded mg-66. If I'm easy on the throttle I'm at the 14 min+ mark. the go-ho is 10-12 max. But as the go-ho breaks in the mileage seams to be increasing. For us in the U.S. the choice is obvious,go-hoII. There is no mg-66 support. But if you get your hands on an mg have it modded you will not be disappointed. My favorite and most under rated engine is the gxr-3port. Mine came back from rex with more of everything[as it needs more bottom] I have run it geared up to an 18 tooth bell with still insane bottom. But most of all is the fuel mileage. My best was over 16 minutes,no sh%t!! Whats best about it is it lets me put the power to the ground where it belongs.

That MG you got modded sounds awesome Matt.
The GXII crank thing is more of an experiment than anything - a couple of us long time GO users just want to see what difference it makes out of interest.
We have a couple of GX motors with the MG crank fitted, so the GXII crank into the MG is just the next progression for a bit of fun.

Let us know how it works. The go-ho is really coming into it's own. I feel it will only get better as it breaks in. You know me Grizz,I take my time breaking the engines in.

I'm planning on doing the transplant tomorrow morning Giz. I will let you know what it runs like later in the week when I get a chance to hit the track.
