As far as I know, ball differential (bd) works correctly if you turn a wheel in one direction, the other wheel would turn in opposite direction.

I have tried to rebuild it about 5 times including using different brand of bd grease (3racing, xray & Schumacher), changed new 3/32 balls, changed new steel plate), but it would not work (both wheel turned in the same direction)

When I turned the bd only using my hand, the other side turned in opposite direction, but I could feel the friction.
When the bd was installed in the car with wheel, using hand, both wheels went the same direction.

What went wrong??

Sigh...
while in the car, hold the spur and turn only one wheel, the other should turn opposite. it will have resistance depending on how tight you have the diff screwed down.

Questions??

Sorry if this has been asked before, but what springs are the team drivers using mainly on Tarmac

Is it a mix of HPI or Associated?

I noticed some Yokomo springs on one of Juho's ETS setup sheets, but that maybe carpet?

In the UK it's either AE or HPI. I prefer the HPI springs as there's less of a gap between spring rates so you can fine-tune the balance. With AE springs it's quite a big jump between rates.

Default Front Slipper Spool

Hi guys,

sorry if this has been discussed previously, and please excuse if this is a silly questions, but why is the front diff a slipper spool and not a ball diff?

what are the benefits / disadvantages?

Thanks

I know this might seem like a dumb question but when you glue the diff pully flange on does the tapered side face the out side or the gear? Also one of the bottom caps labeled BHCS part number 31324 has no threads I guess i will have to call associated and see if i can get a new one. what should I expect when i contact them about it?

AE has great customer service. Im sure they will take care of you.
The tapered side faces the belt. Only a small amount of CA on the inside edge is needed. you dont want any glue getting in the teeth

A spool allows you to accelerate harder out of the corner as it ensures the power goes to the wheel that has grip (the loaded outside wheel), instead of to the unloaded inside wheel.

The slipper spool is basically the same but can slip under very heavy load such as a crash, preventing driveshafts and blades being damaged.

I just use double sided tape and fibre glass tape

Camera was about AUD$9 shipped from Hong Kong to Australia via eBay.

Is anyone running the regular arms (not the kit hard arms) in asphalt yet? I see most setups running with sway bars and combine that with hard arms seems like possibly overkill. I have yet to make first run yet but I'll give it a go, just curious.

Default shock rebound

Saw AE racer setup, rebound 10%.
Question- how to make the shocks rebound 10% or 20%?

1. Fill shock
2. Let air bubbles dissipate (or whatever method you prefer to use; pump etc)
3. Place the bladder over the top of the body lightly holding it in position
4. Push shaft up until 10% of the shaft is still showing. Oil will bleed out.
5. Place cap on and screw up.

If you want 25% then keep a quarter of the shaft showing while pushing up or for 50% half the shaft
