what pipe is prefered for the gx7r in truggy? id imagine its gonna be a go pipe, and i will pick one up. as of now i have the os 2060 and 2050. will the 2060 still give me that smooth powerband and great runtime unti i get the go setup?

Not sure about those other pipes as I have never run them, but the GO EFRA 2072 would be your best bet for the 7R in a truggy. The 2072 is a great performer on all the GX motors and the newer GXII as well.

I tried the 7 port in truggy and it did not have near enough power. Have you tried it yet? Any bottom end pipe should be good. Bill tried an 0801 on his buggy and said it had a lot more bottom yesterday at the track.

the 086 and 053 do well with the 7port in a truggy, i would go 053 for better low end power. ive never tried the 7port in the truggy, i use the 5port and 7port in buggy, best buggy engine ive ever used!!!

I finally got to run my GX7R in my buggy today. I'm very happy with the performance of this engine. I've got to say this GO motor is very linear and smooth, and has stupid bottom end.

Can't wait to break in the 5 port for my truggy!

We have several guys run the GX-7R in truggy and it's fine. Probably better suited to more open tracks, but it has plenty of bottom end - just not as much as the stump pulling 5R.
Having said that, I would recommend it for buggy over truggy. It is one sweet buggy motor for sure.
If you like the linear power of the 7R, wait until you try the GXII. It's very similar, but a lot closer to the 5R's bottom end punch.

Agreed

I used to run both a 5 port and a 7 port before I started running MG66 for MM in Truggy, I never found my 7 port lacking in bottom end... in saying that, the 5 port was better suited to certain conditions, my MG66 has the best of both

i have a slew of 5 ports already. i have 2 eb mod ninjas, and a stock p5x. i use to have 2 gx5r but they didnt impress me much.not bashing them, they good running engines but not what i was looking for. anyway i believe the 7r will do exactly what i want. less bottom for this loose dusty track i have around this area. its rather large and they only water it once every heat and truggy runs last and by time we get on it all the moisture is sucked out of it and the 5 ports just wheel spin and cant get much tracktion. i want something easy to control but premo on runtime thats whay i ask which pipe for smooth powerband and optimum runtime

the go 2072/but if you have a jammin jp-4 laying around it also will do a good job. My favorite pipe for these engines is a dynamite 086. Great power 12-14 min run times. But may give you to much bottom, and I don't know if they are efra legal.

For those track conditions the GX-7R in your truggy would be sweet. They have amazing mid to top end. Quite a step up in top end performance from the 5R.
If you want to smooth out the power band even more, run the Dynamite 053 MR Hard Anodised pipe (around US$59).
This was the universal pipe of choice for the GO 7 Port motors before the 2047, 0801 and 2072 GO pipes came on line, and is still a sweet performer on this motor.
The golden rule used to be 086 for 3 Port and 5 Port, 053 for 7 Port.
Fuel economy with the Dynamite pipes is good too, but as mentioned, check the Dynamite pipes are legal to run in your area.

The 0801 is basically a top end pipe with a long header, so gives good performance all around. It is a pretty thin walled pipe (the GO version), which dented very easily and the stinger was subject to damage.
More recently there has been other 0801 pipes produced like the APlus 0801, which is a much stronger pipe.

The 2072 is the later model. It has a large volume chamber, slightly bigger internal outlet size on the stinger.
It too has the long header and gives wicked bottom end power as well as strong mid and top end performance. Very strong and durable pipe.

For the GX motors I would recommend the 2072. The GX motors were developed around using this pipe, so it has the best performance characteristics on all three GX models (as far as GO pipes are concerned) IMO. It is a very nice pipe.
