If you're experiencing any odd smell from your VST motor even though it's not very hot it's due to an earlier production step. The earlier production motor stators were dipped in a certain solution that was giving them that warm/sweet scent, we have since changed the process to remove the smell. It makes no difference to performance or durability. Most of the stators that were dipped stop smelling after about 20 packs, maybe less.
The Cactus went very well for us, the equipment was running great and our drivers ran very strong. We had Viper equipment in the 13.5 2wd, 13.5 4wd, 13.5 truck, and 4wd SCT A-mains. Unfortunately Billy broke in the A2/final 4wd SCT main (that class only ran double A-mains, so no throwout result).
Billy also claimed the coveted BQ spot in 2wd mod, just missing the main. Slightly disappointing but shows the equipment was right there. The 2wd mod class field only came second in depth to probably the worlds, full factory drivers all the way to the E main
.
Andrew had a really bad start in the 2wd 13.5 main and drove an excellent race to make it back to 4th, he could have won the race with a better start, his car was dialed
.
The last corner/jump bobble in the 4wd 13.5 main was the hairiest spot on the track, unfortunate but could have happened to anyone. Andrew drove a great race and was fast all weekend. Cav passed Tebo from the exact same scenario in the last corner of the 2wd mod A3.
Overall the race went very well and the results reflect that

Anyone seen Waylin lately?
Sent him a PM......my viper 6,5 broke down the 3rd time i had it on track!
First tought it was my esc or my receiver, changed both and still dead.
Then tried my tekin back-up motor and my car was runnin' again!

When you say " broke down" what exactly happened? Did it just stop dead? Where you keeping an eye on temps for the first few runs?
What was your set up?

Still hoping for May availability on the 1/8 systems. The latest testing on the VSE motors is going VERY well
Huge improvements, huge power, and we're still not even done refining them
Sorry for the delay, PM's are just that, a personal message, please try not to rely on them for urgent matters because I often don't have easy access to my pm's without a computer. Emails I will see faster and be able to respond to faster. I will always get back to everyone's PM's as fast as possible, they're just a little backed up after being gone at the Cactus.
I have replied to your PM now
Durango DESC410, VST 4.5XL prototype, 12t pinion (unsure of spur/internal ratio). This power setup was definitely running with the best out there
