Default 12R5.1

Finally got my 12R5.1 done! Going to try to get it tuned this week and ready to race Saturday. Only two weekends left in our indoor season. I'll take some pics of the inside tomorrow (batteries in the camera went dead). Picked it up from a guy at the track for $75, checked it over, filled it with a Tekin and a Redline 17.5, put new shoes and a new body on it, ready to race!

Ok so I am using the Xerun 120a 1s & Trinity Duo3 10.5 in a 1/12 pan car. The track is carpet and a short track at that. Should I use the stock settings:

V3.0_110119STOCK
Initial Brake 0%
Neutral Range 6%
Boost Timing 32
Turbo Open 18
Over heat Enable
Turbo Timing 24
Boost start 4000
Turbo Delay .3sec
Boost Timing 350

1) What should I change or just leave it as is?

I also heard about using V3.0_101224STOCK Firmware w/ an LRP x12 or use the V3.0_110119STOCK w/ a less strong rotor magnetic.

Does anyone know which I should use w/ my Trinity Duo3?

I know nothing about that speedo but if those numbers are at all comparable to a Tekin, sounds like you're in the right direction.

As for LRP's, they have a lot of physical timing in them and a very strong rotor so use a neg timing insert, less esc timing than you would for a duo and maybe a tooth or two more on the pinion. I've just started playing with the LRPs and they do require a bit different set-up but I am really liking them.

Hello, I have an Associated 12R5.1 that i'm having a problem with proper servo mounting. My Ko Propo 949 servo does not lay flat on the chassis. There appears to be about a 1.5mm gap between the chassis and servo. Do any of you guys have this problem? I really don't want to Shoo Goo my $110 servo to the chassis. So have any of you guys come up with any other solutions that doesn't require gluing direct to the chassis?

Thanks, Chris

Don't worry if its not completely flat, I had same thing with a touring car and some servos... Just put some double sided tape under the servo to take up any impact or vibrations... worked great on the touring...

i would try dumas's snowbirds setup. it is pretty common. you may bump the end rpm up another 500 and the start around 4xxx. and then gear a little harder. turbo delay, i usually do not run that low. usually .2 or so.

Dumas doesn't have the gearing on the set up sheet. He was probably running something like a 76/43 with 42-43-ish rears.

hey Chris, is there a problem with the servo mounts? the 12r5 comes with aluminum mounts that seem to work fine. i have an extra pair if you want to try them.

by the way, thanks for making the Tommy's run last sunday!

Has anyone tried the Turnigy Voltage Booster that HobbyKing sells?

My rx battery died (took more charge than nominal 220mah capacity even after use) so I wanna try using a booster.

They carry 2 kinds of boosters, one is by Turnigy (no shrink wrap) and the other with the black shrink wrap on.

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dproduct=11784

Do you just hook one end up to the battery side and the other end to the BATT port on the RX?

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi!

I use this black shrink version, it gives 5V without problems in my pan car 200mm.

But for E12 I switch to novak, 6V is better then 5V

Regards!
