same kv? those seem high but i guess with the 46t spur i have really only ran like a 48t spur as the smallest on other buggies.

This buggy and the Ve8 have different gear ratios than say Mugen or Losi, which would run a 12-15 tooth and get the same effect.

Yes, very popular. If you are going to be running on the track there are many different configurations. 4S is ROAR legal, so to go with that most people will run 1900kV. Ive also seen 1400kv on 6S 1500kv on 5s and 1700-1900 on 4S.

I run the 2050 and I like it.

Hey I've been reading all the posts on wires, and seen the pics. Suddenly it occurs to me that the Deans wire I bought and the Tekin wire the RX8 came with were not copper - but silver in colour. Is that pre-tinned or is it another metal?

The factory wiring that comes with the RX8 is silver too.

The advantage of mounting the wires like this apart from looking neat, is two fold. It makes changing motors a breeze without having to re soldier, and secondly it increases the surface area on the posts for the heat to disapate. To solder, just turn the speed controller upside down heat the connector and let the solder flow into the bottom of the female plug and surround the post and fill the groove.
Anthony.
Looks very clean and neat I take it that you change motors frequently to do this as Ive seen many do these types of quick connect for motor changes with different low resistance connectors would usually work but also risk the chance of failing connectors, this I feel is the reason that most would go straight connections thru solder less resistance and lesser connections with less possible fail rates as we all know these buggys take high impact and viabration is extreme.

So should I be replacing my wiring with copper?

I made all my charging leads with that too. Drat.

Sorry, but I'm not getting this far into it.

Why bother replacing it with copper? There is less conductivity with copper and it's only used in most applications because silver is too expensive.

Silver is where it's at boys. We have the high end sensitive toys... use the high end stuff!
