I have to partially agree. This thread has gotten out of control. Lots of information that has nothing to do with the RC8Be.

Well i checked the track schedule for the week, might try to make the long bike ride out there with the rc8be strapped to my back.
I wondering how to cut down on weight yet still bring enough spares so that my trip wont be cut short. I think ill bring 4 batteries, no charger, arms / caster blocks / tools / pinions / esc and motor (spares).

I am having a tuff time deciding between these two batteries.
First off will both of these fit the RC8Be battery trey?
Second are these ok batteries?
Third will it be ok they are soft packs?

+1. OFC is OFC, and its current handling limits are based on its cross sectional area and length of the conductor. The main differences I see are based on the insulation, strand count (and thus strand gauge) and whether or not the wire is pre-tinned.
Now, if 12 ga speaker wire is smaller than 12 ga RC wire (which it shouldn't be, as the gauge should be standardized across all manufacturers), then I'd agree with idea that 12 gauge speaker wire will not handle as much current.
Another thing to keep in mind is that speaker wire manufacturers might spec a lower current due to the lenth that is being assumed. If you look up some standard wire gauge specs, you'll see that for a 12 gauge wire, max current is usually spec'ed at 40-45A. We run a LOT more than that, but the wire is so short that it doesn't make much of a difference.
IIRC, conventional wisdom is that you want no more than 2% voltage drop over the length of the conductor when calculating max current capacity. For efficient systems, you can try for 0.5% to 1% voltage drop.
Even with 12 gauge wire at 120A for a wire that's only 3" long, with a 4S battery, the voltage drop is only 0.32%. It's even better with 6S at only 0.21%. 10 gauge is better at 0.20% and 0.13%, respectively.

Before you solder up the new wires, remove some of the solder from the pads. It looks like there's way too much.

Makes sense about the off topic posts. I'm sorry you guys feel that way. But looking back 20-30 pages I can see where there is a lot of fluff.
I for one will try to keep my posts on topic. With that said we should create our own off topic thread in the appropriate forum and refer people there for off topic posts like other kits. Which I agree I am off topic on from time to time.

The HK are fine and will fit, but I think the nano is better. U can make it fit, cut the back of the battery tray out, turn the ESC so thinner part faces battery and as close to the rear wheel as possible. Remove batt rubber pads, put velkro on bottom of tray and batt. that will stop it from sliding backwards then use the normal straps.

Kind of like the chain of "Reply-All" emails at work where everyone is complaining about the prior sender hitting "Reply All", but they also hit "Reply All" to complain. As for the searching, I agree. Unless I'm actively involved in a thread, I generally don't read past the most recent couple of pages. There's just too much stuff. Every thread has off-topic "fluff." It's just a fact of life. If I'm looking for something particular, I search.
That said, I won't comment any more with off-topic comments, and will stick strictly to RC8Be related things now...

After reading about the troubles the RX8s are having I am thinking about getting a backup system.
Right now I have the 2050 motor. If I were to get a second size motor for this buggy which direction would you guys recommend?
I am thinking 1900 but should I go the other direction and get the 2200?
I am racing 4s batteries.

So what you guys think? 1 40c for $50 or 2 20c for $50?? Also the 20c battery, is it any good? I'm not racing but I will be track driving. I want to order these asap so they might make it by the weekend.
