Is it my imagination or is the AXE236R21 X2 Cobra slower than the AXE198R21 Cobra ? I have both engines and it seems like the original Cobra had more grunt, but then again mine had over 3 gallons and two rods before I retired it. The newer X2 just seems to barely hold in comparison? maybe it needs more time any suggestions?

Switch put the p&s in the other case and see
Also
What restrictor are you Using?

Only 3gal on a axe ENGINE????something is wrong . your tune or rod issues must have caused internal damage. most axe engines last 8+gallons, they start to come to life at 2-3 gal

i got my special order $$$$ restrictors in on fri ran saturday and sunday testing and tunning best runtime i got was 11.4min on 5.5 averaged 10.8min on 6.0-6.5
the 6.0 did not show any improvement over the 6.5
now the 5.5 is were im getting the best fuel but there is a notable low end power loss " i'll save that for the big tracks"

pipe= rdlogic's mid range pipe long header

going to start testing pipes and headers "this weekend"
i will report findings and model

running the blackmagic case and head with mamba x2 internals

Default Longest post that i ever posted

It is AMAZING to find so much info in one place about the axe rossi motors. I was directed here by Blackmagic21 after seeing that "he is a huge fan of the black magic" (which might be an understatement), any who i too am a fan of the black magic. I got one used about 5 years ago with the purchase of a crappy wannabe Mayhem st. He said it was rebuilt and hasn't ran it much since. Well i purchased the whole package for 200.00 bucks. Let me tell ya, i justify the purchase as spending 200.00 on the motor and the mayhem st was just crap attached to it.

I ran the mayhem for a year and i couldn't control it what so ever. But man could i blow the lids off every body else in the straight away lol. Then 2 years later i put it in a buggy (losi 1.0) There again it was hard to control so i tamed it down with clutch shoes and springs. Fast forward a year and i bought a original mamba for 200.00 new before they had x models cause i liked the axe and no one else ran them. (I like to be different) The mamba was awesome right out of the box, very comparable to the black magic but not as much power it seemed which is ok still have to tame down cause of the low end is huge.

Any ways i have not had problems with rod on eithier motors. have replaced bearings in the mamba for this year and everything looked fine. The black magic is collecting dust cause it is in need of a rebuild. And a carb cause one of the needles wouldn't screw out and i broke it. Also after reading this whole thread i guess my mamba is in need of a new carb also cause i followed online rossi directions to find tune and i bottomed out both needles.

Any ways im looking for parts for the black magic cause i would like to use it in my new truggy (losi 2.0) and i loved the pipe that came with the black magic which is the expandable one. (name escapes me) i need the o-rings that go in the middle on the screw part of the pipe.

If i can get the parts reasonable I would like to use the mamba and blackmagic this year for racing (i live in wisconsin so racing is seasonal) before i use the O.S. Speed that i bought used for 125.

Sorry about the long post, just really excited to find new info on axe oh and im gonna sneek this in i have a Axe .12 X5 new in box never seen fuel just fingerprints for sale

yea thats what i noticed the smaller restrictor i think caused me to be on the trigger a little heavier than normal cause with the large one(restrictor) and a jp-2 pipe ive gotten 10 -101/2 mins on the mamba. so this weekend ill be using large restrictor i run on a large track need all the help i can get:smile
